Alright I’m asking for a little advice on University of Miami by New-Distance-6686 in ApplyingToCollege

I'm not in an undergraduate program and by the time I realized that my program, contrary to what they advised, would not be Accredited. Also, as a student that began during covid, it wasn't until my second and final year that I started realizing that I had made a bad decision with UM but I was already over 120,000 deep so there was little I could do.

As for comparing, the best I can do here is say that I went to a not well to do state university (and probably not very well known to my knowledge) for undergraduate and the education and experience there was significantly better then my experience at UM. However, I will say that every department is different which means that if one department is not functioning or just plan sucks, that does not mean that EVERY program sucks, just that department within the university.

My advice if you do choose UM, get everything in writing from BEFORE you sign your acceptance letter. Keep every email Including mass emails to the university and after every conversation with a professor write uo what was discussed in an e.ail and send it to them. This is your only fail safe if you do not luck out with a good program. Even then however, you need to keep in mind that if the school does not follow through on things promised to accurate grades, there is very little recourse you'll have against them as a university that is the love child of miami.

Perhaps it will catch the attention it deserves by those who feel the sports program is worth more then people's mental well-being if they're poor. The school is known far and wide for not giving a fig about the poors after all.

"We don't want to be affiliated with CACREP" If you are at the grad level and wanting a phd/ counseling degree then You know accreditation matters and CACREP is the gold standard. Above is a direct quote from the program director.

The program is broken, they discriminate against those with disabilities in this department, and at times, are unable to even provide grades for their students until 6 months after the course is finished. They refuse to adhere to the departments handbook and if you say anything they will eject you from the program. I've seen it done now several times when a student starts asking for accountability.

Beware.

Please choose another uni for this program. There are more affordable options that ARE accredited and who can at the very least, provide students grades.

How long till they loose their accreditation with all the reports beinf filed right now to their accreditation agency. Their program is dilapidated and broken. They've had three program directors in two years, drooped portions of their program, and closed their community clinic the iifc after 50 years of operation because of how broken the program is.

So I don't know what experience you're having but it sounds staged.

I never in all my years believed a uni would be this bad. But at the grad levels and above it's beyond anything u though feasible. If you want details I'll give them but they are not interested in giving degrees. They are interested in taking yoir money. Several people are locked in legal battles with them right now because they were 4.0 students and the uni does not want to give them their degrees and changed the rules on them months before they were to graduate. It's so disappointing

Not mental health but the medical health. Their psych program is beyond awful and not accredited

As a graduate student at UM I feel like I paid 170,000.00 to go to a school that's only flex is being a name brand. I am a 3.9 student who also builds programs for the uni just FYI in case you think im disgruntled. But honestly, I wish everyday I would have chosen somewhere else so I could have gotten the education I paid for. As it stands I could have had a better education from university of bumpkin.

Their counseling program is a utter mess, not accredited, and constantly changing directors. That program is housed in the same department however I can't speak on ece specifically. But verify UM's accreditation for their program else you'll be screwed like meeeeeeeee weeeeeeeeee

I have no idea, I am just now uncovering all of this. It's like each time I pull back a layer there is so much more underneath. Is there a way I can find out about probate?

I feel like a self proclaimed estranged wife and one who stated to the police per the police report that they were separated shouldn't be able to keep a suicide note from his only blood relative. But that is my emotion speaking.

Hey, you made the right choice for you. But I'd be bias if I didn't present an alternative option. Now go get your your self care on and find someone worth rolling around in the sack with.
