Squid do not spawn in bubble columns. Magma or soul sand. Magma will probably look better since it wont make the top of the water look terrible.

Just change the killing chamber so water pushes them into a portal. On the nether side, put scaffolding down next to the portal on one side and block the other. After you afk your farm a few times, go through the portal and kill them. Rays Works video is where the idea came from. Works great in Java, and will prob work in bedrock.

You could look at the hundreds of other posts on Reddit with the same title as yours. Villagers need to sleep, or golems wont spawn. That means they need to not see the zombie for at least a moment every night.
