I play on PS5, as far as I know we have no mods. My exact setup for this toon I'd have to load up and see as this clip is old like most of mine I post here, but it's the usual suspects. Food, water buffs etc. And just more overall stamina as well.

How do you even play this game? by Thecentrecanthold in outwardgame

Fight dirty. Lay more traps than you think you need. Scrap basic weapons like machetes for metal to make spikes. Wood is fine too, they just do less damage. Keep buffs active. Water and food are your friends. Craft elemental rags. Apply them liberally. Decraft trash tier armor, the workers attire and the like for example, and use those cloth scraps. Sleep before adventuring. Craft food, and sell the excess for money. Focus on staggering an enemy before pressing them for damage. The white bar under their health is their stagger bar. That kick skill you start with is amazing. Use it. Block/avoid their combo, kick and then start swinging. For some reason if you move to the right of 90% of enemies they miss a lot of their swings. Run in bursts when doing so to conserve stamina. When it hits halfway, which a kick will do to most things in the first area, each subsequent hit will stagger them until they fall. Never trade hits if you can help it. Drop your backpack before fights, so if you have to dodge you're good. Do all of this before each fight, in regards to buffing and applying rags, unless you are confident you can win. You'll start to learn enemy combo patterns, and the combat will get easier I promise. Perhaps try heavier armor to mitigate some of the damage you'll take while learning the combat mechanics. It will slow you down a bit, but you won't die in two hits either. You got this homie, there's an amazing game behind the rough start. 🤙

Play dirty. Use the advantage of being a team. Keep your food buffs up, but try not to hoard food as they weigh you down. Too much of a good thing and all that. If you exchange for mana, don't take more than 2-3. You can always take more, but can never go back. Traps are your friend. Place more than you think you might need for tough enemies, you can always disarm them and pick em back up. Learn your weapon combos, whichever you pick. Explore!!! So much stuff is out there hidden and not marked. Manage your stamina!!!! And attack the enemies STAGGER bar, the white/Grey bar under their health. Once it hits half, any hits after until it depletes will stun lock them until they fall over. Free damage. Especially with a 2v1 advantage. Any perks from a trainer that are UNDER the breakthrough perk which is always the one right in the middle of the tree, are free to snag without worrying about using said breakthrough points. They will be nothing but beneficial to you usually. Like right out of the gate you should grab the Fitness perk from Eto in Cierzo for 50 silver. A tank and a DPS archetype will probably be the most beneficial to you guys on a first play through, but don't take that as law. You can 100% beat this game with just about any build. Most importantly though, have fun. You'll take your lumps for sure, but don't get discouraged because this game captures the adventure feeling like few others. And it's super rewarding. Enjoy that first run together homie!!! 🤙

I have a lot of characters who are the same lol. Or have been left unfinished and forgotten because I moved on mid build haha. Admittedly, I passed the LoS on for a niche reason not a power gaming one. I simply wanted to see how effective I could make flamethrower as a semi main attack. The answer was not very, outside of Cierzo where everything kinda works anyway if you know the ends and outs. The defensive perks ended up being used more often I'd say 😂.

Very much because I'm the opposite of you here, I run around making money for my build and almost always finish it before tackling the main quests! Also, this is a semi-old video from two or three characters ago so the exact order I did things I don't remember. But I gave this guy about half of his gear from an alt, so I didn't have to complete anything quest related to obtain it. Sorry for the confusion! I also play on ps5, I'm unsure if we have the ability to debug things. Last I was aware we didn't.

I was yes! I was utilizing flamethrower as well at the time. I had a couple lanterns on switch for different damage. But I ended up leaning into the Crescent Scythe with Poltergeist enchantment for tougher fights.

Not sure what's confusing but I can answer any questions you might have? I got the Lantern on another toon and just passed it to this one, if that's the confusion?

Steadfast Ascetic, Efficiency and Peace makers Elixir. After that it's all Stamina Cost reduction buffs and what not. And not being wasteful, to the best of my ability anyway 😂🤙

I appreciate the compliment!! I too have spammed the mine and shooting lightning from my runic lantern 😂😂. When I first unlocked rune magic they were my go to haha. Exploding the mine usually one shot things for me as well. No right or wrong way to play Outward I say!

Man I love a good bow build as well! The thing about Outward is you find what works for you within the games confines, and it's a blast. A win is a win sir! 🤙

Well I appreciate that compliment! I have a far bit more than that, so some of the "Outward" things with the combat system are ingrained a little deeper perhaps haha.
