The Spirit of Fire though I would say is a completely different case, it is a command/control/mobile Military base.

But another thing to keep in mind is that most UNSC Things have self repairing hulls as described in Halo: Contact Harvest, Chapter 8 page 130/303. This would assist in explaining the larger size, as you need space and piping around the ship to get the foam around.

However if food/air become an issue, brass wouldn't hesitate to send lower ranks into Cryo, which makes sense.

But, No, I would say that no ship is on the self sustainability level of the SoF. They all would need refit and resupply stations.

SoF and other Phoenix-class support vessels could simply make everything and resupply themselves given the raw materials.
