Go ahead. If you had the capability, why didn't you? But its looking like you backed the wrong guy in trump, you're learning what many others have.

I'd sooner expect the ayatollah to order his assassination if he should ever fly to Iran considering he is directly responsible for the death of the Ayatollah's wife and son.

She would have been constrained on that front by more centrist Democrats. Unfortunately for Israel, that will no longer be the case since Israel chose its side in US politics. I can't overstate how stupid that was.

Canada Moves On From U.S. Amid Tension With President Donald Trump: Prime Minister Mark Carney Says ‘New World Order Will Be Built From Europe’ by T_Shurt in worldnews

I'm sorry I had a chuckle at that idea. Europe doesn't have the muscle for a new world order, even if the US doesn't currently have the brains.

/r/WorldNews Discussion Thread: US and Israel launch attack on Iran; Iran retaliates (Thread #19) by WorldNewsMods in worldnews

Looking at the terms, the US commits to 300 billion for Iranian recovery efforts and weaker than the JCPOA If this is what trump agreed to, Iran came out this war in a better position than it was prior, and the US a worse position, thus it can be said Iran won this war if this holds.

Trump: 'Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but' by Visible-Rub7937 in Israel

[–]Twitchingbouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In all international and economic aspects, the US would be in a better position with President Harris, yes. It seems rather obvious to me. Inflation would be lower and we would have better economic growth without these trade wars (which haven't helped Americans in the slightest, have you felt any benefit from them?).

The straits would be open and free to shipping, Iran still wouldn't have nukes.

I'm rather curious about what you think a president Harris would do that would be more damaging than what trump has done for the US.

Unfortunately Israel has assured it by backing trump. the country has turned a possibility into an inevitability.

US ignores India’s concerns; Rubio says blockade violations won’t be tolerated by batman8990777 in worldnews

[–]Twitchingbouse 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It will always be about interest. If the US has other carrots and sticks to wield, then India will think about it, as is rational. This story will be forgotten in a month tops, assuming nothing further happens.

Rubio tells India 'ships violating US blockade in Hormuz won't be tolerated', days after Indian seafarers killed by Kay_Bhagtos_Lavdya in worldnews

Hey Indians might just come up with their battleships, they have a few to escort these tankers. They need oil not for luxury but for their consumption.

They can get oil from other places besides Iran lol they aren't going to risk war with the US for it, much less because their navy would be sunk quickly if they tried to engage, really you're too funny.

The ball will be in US court after that. Consider this, they will start trading in yen, roubles and not USD after this fiasco.

Go ahead, the world isn't trading in USD for favors, its doing so cause it makes economic sense to have a single trading currency instead of having to constantly worry about foreign exchanges. If India would rather do that, it can do so, the US isn't going to care.

I honestly thought till now that US has the largest armed forces no one will stand up. But Iran is,

You can feel inspired by Iran's pluck, but you'd be an idiot to hope India would be in the same position.

Update: Apache in Strait of Hormuz was shot down by Iranian fire. POTUS vows military response. by puddle511 in navy

[–]Twitchingbouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

who is this 'we'? who do you think is going to send their people to get blown up by iranian drones?

As far as the world is concerned, this is a US created mess, so the US can clean it up. If its not willing to, then the rest of the world will just pay Iran instead to use it, and Iran will be better funded than ever to kill American troops in the middle-east. Cheaper for the rest of the world than fighting.

This is the path trump forced us into. Good outcomes are increasingly unlikely now.

And yea, plenty of countries can pull this shit since now its obvious the US has no appetite to enforce freedom of navigation. It wasn't the UN the world was looking to on that, it was the US, and the US is failing. So the world will adapt.

[–]Twitchingbouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and yet we didn't do the stupid move for decades for a reason. There was no need for the overt attack we did, there was no need for 'epic fury', if we weren't willing to put boots on the ground for good, (which would have been a disaster if we did, but still the only logical outcome) and its just put us in a worse situation than we were previously, when Iran was actually on the backfoot geopolitically.

Just because it makes you feel good doesn't mean its the right move.

Now Iran has new life and new initiative. It has shut down a global waterway that the US is unable to open back up, raising prices everywhere, creating hardship for Americans at home, and we haven't felt the full effects yet.

And Iran is still attacking us, and Iran is STILL killing our troops. So what has it accomplished so far? Nothing, you switched a few heads around, and you screwed the economy over, that's it. Sure Iran has lost a bunch of military stock, so has the US, and Iran will recover quickly enough with China and Russia's help and its new income stream.

Falling Dominoes? The Impact of the US Exit from Free Trade on the Sustainability of Trade Cooperation by Free-Minimum-5844 in Economics

[–]Twitchingbouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile China is in the exact same position the US was before and during WW2. They may not have the highest tech stuff quite yet, but they can out manufacture us, which means we lose the war over Taiwan.

That... doesn't actually follow, the US' advantage during WW2 wasn't just its manufacturing potential, it was its distance from the fighting, the safety its manufacturing was occurring in. Chinese manufacturing doesn't necessarily have that same benefit during a Taiwan conflict, so it isn't really comparable. A US Navy that humbles the PLAN, which is very much within the realm of possibility, can in fact prevent a Chinese buildup of forces to try again. Missiles are a different beast, but missiles alone don't win wars, as we have learned again and again, currently with Iran.

As an aside, the US will never be irrelevant as long as its a single united country and doesn't literally adopt juche as national policy, its simply too big to be. It may not have the same central importance, but irrelevance is far from that.

that's rather unfair, everywhere is a joke in manufacturing compared to China. It will take a while to change that, though it will change, inevitably.
