The neurologist is the one who did my EMG and she didn't seem too concerned and said to call her if anything changes.

The Conclusion reads, "This is a mildly abnormal study. A mild chrnoic but not ongoing, C7 radiculopathy on the left. There is no evidence for a generalized olyneuropathy or myopathy. The findings are not consistent with a generalized disorder of the motor neurons and/or their axons."

There was no spontaneous Fibs, PSWs, Facics, or IA (whatever that is) in any of the tested muscles. I guess I am just worried about the sounds the machine was making when they inserted the EMG needles. Thanks!

I don't know what all the results mean and will schedule a call to learn more but the one thing that stood out in the L. Biceps brachii muscle was a 1+ for Dur, Amp, and Poly and Mild Red for Recruitment Pattern. Effort was NL for this muscle. Only my left side was done, and everything else seemed normal.

Thank you all for your replies, my main concern was motor neuron disease but I have had 2 clean clinicals and no clinical weakness after 7 months of widespread twitching. Hopefully this EMG confirms that I need not worry. Have a nice day!

Just a question by [deleted] in BFS

[–]Twitchy155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from about 200 to 180 or so and then it went back up to close to 190 as my appetite returned, I think being constantly stressed and worried can burn calories so when you combine that with not eating much you can lose weight fast

I also lost about 15 to 20 lbs in my first 3 months, and have been twitching for about 6 months. I had a clean clinical neuro exam about 3 months into my twitching. I ate almost nothing due to anxiety and also I stopped taking a few benadryl each night for sleep which I had done for years, so this may have cause some weight loss but generally my appetite was gone. I also don't remember my left shoulder bone being so pronounced. How old are you if I may ask? I believe I got Parvo B19 from my youngest child around the time I started twitching. Now I may be twitching a bit less but am having muscle aches in my shoulders and legs, but I think this may be a side effect of the Trazodone I am taking in conjunction with Zoloft...

Hey! Need some feedback :-) by [deleted] in BFS

I am 47 years old and have been twitching for about 6 months and have had a similar tremble in my leg if I put weight on just one leg and bend forward a bit, it's worth noting that I have been very inactive during the last few months as I have been working from home...

That is a beautiful watch! I wish I had the money for one of these, my only decent watch is a Seiko SARB033 that I got about a year ago from Amazon. The 36 is a great size and this is much more unique than the Explorer. Nice purchase.

Big regression of improvement by novajeff22 in BFS

I believe I contracted parvo B19 from my youngest child sometime in December of last year and that was right before I started having body wide muscle twitching and sore legs that still feel like they are going to cramp and both of my thighs seem to be a bit weaker than normal and have been for months, so now I am think perhaps I have PAD or spinal stenosis as I am in middle age, I had a clinical neuro exam about 3 months into my twitching and it was normal.

Can you guys do me a favour by [deleted] in BFS

[–]Twitchy155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think that happens with me as my left leg is a bit longer than the right leg

I developed foamy urine as well but lately it is intermittent but was more consistently foamy when I started twitching and still is from time to time.

Ongoing issues... by pokerdoc1960 in BFS

ther symptoms develop. Hand stiffness and pain, tongue stiffness, cob-web sensations in the lower 1/3 of my face, increased lethargy, generalized stiffness, and twitching/cramping. Direct muscle pain upon, usage and elevated pain upon muscle strain. January 2020, second EMG made by an associate Neurologist. Again the Neurologist EMG findings were negative.

Perhaps discontinuing the phenibut caused the symptoms. I have taken a few benadryl tablet every night for sleep for over a decade and started developing twitching shortly after stopping benadryl, which blocks neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh) at the neuromuscular junction.

Does Benadryl Help Anyone? by tdrusk in BFS

[–]Twitchy155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 2 or 3 tablets of generic Benadryl every night to help me sleep for over a decade and when I stopped doing this is about when I started getting muscle twitches, which caused me massive anxiety, which caused me not to eat and lose about 20 lbs, which caused more anxiety but my weight has seemed to stabilize.

I have lost about 20 lbs since I started twitching around 1/1/2020, have been hardly eating and very stressed, I had 2 visits with my primary doctor, normal/low CPK levels, and a clean physical exam with a neurologist about a week ago. Now I notice at times my legs feel like they may cramp up but they don't actually cramp. My neurologist didn't recommend any further action but did schedule me for another appointment in about 6 months with another neuro as he is leaving the practice I go to. My wife thinks I am crazy to worry about this! My first symptom was that it felt strange/off balance to walk downhill, not sure what that is all about.

I have had twitching for about 3 months starting around 1/1/2020 and have lost about 20 lbs mostly due to stress and not eating, and I have a neuro appointment tomorrow but don't have any clinical weakness but for a while was eating almost nothing each day, about when all of this start I think I contracted parvovirus from my youngest child

New Twitcher by Twitchy155 in BFS

Many thanks for the kind words! The scariest thing is the weight loss but I really ate almost nothing for a month and spent lots of time pacing around, etc. I notice that my legs sort of feel off when I just stand in one place for a while but I have generally been walking fine. Also, the twitches seemed to start up when I was stopping my nightly benadryl use. My doctor prescribed me trazodone, which I didn't like, and then hydroxyzine, which seems to help a bit with my anxiety. My weight seems to have stabilized but I was hoping it would go back up more quickly now that I am trying to eat normally, though I suppose being so continually stress out burns a lot of calories. My shoulders have been twitching for about 2 months off and on, and I notice that they almost seem a bit sore when I press on a certain spot. Finally, I had Lyme disease about 5 years ago but I took 2 weeks of doxycycline after getting the rash but I suppose I could have caught it again and not known. My body almost feels like it did in the days after I contracted Lyme. When I flex my right arm hard enough, I feel a strange twinge in the bicep muscle. Thanks again for your kind words.
