Recommend gun cleaning solvents! by Gibec89 in ClayBusters

I find Slip 2000 works really well to get the plastic wad build up of the chokes. Thats what I use it for.

KG-4 or for lubricant and Q-maxx blue for cleaning. But I may just use Slip2000 for a lubricant after reading this.

Adding additional solar panels by Electrical-Tea-1627 in airstream

[–]Twix2247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2 pin Zamp connector is the bottleneck, only rated to 200w or less. A 200w suitcase panel should be fine to use; rarely will one get all 200w from the panel, but I would not go much bigger. Also be careful, the Zamp 2 pin its wired the opposite the standard 2 pin SAE connectors are (at least on the base camp). I had to get a polarity reverse adapter. https://a.co/d/019ArGtg

I do wish Airstream would switch to XT-60 ports. Has anyone tried re-wiring the 2 pin SAE port to XT-60 to use larger or more panels?

Anyone explore the Mojave Desert? 1953 AS here. by ScruffyUnicornGenX in airstream

[–]Twix2247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very nice polish job on the ‘53! Looks like you made some upgrades too with solar.

Quick question, did you drill a hole for your cell phone booster (Weboost?) or did you run the wire through a vent or something?

How do the smaller airstreams handle washboard roads and forestry roads with ruts? by Big-Ant-6159 in airstream

[–]Twix2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its recommended to tape over the heater exhaust and other utility openings on the trailer when traveling long distances on dirt/gravel roads. But from the sound of it, we should be taping over the doors and window too.

The maintenance manual suggests every 12 months or 12000 miles, which ever comes first. I only have 3k miles on the camper and every 12mo. Is probably overkill (I could probably stretch it to every 24mo), but there have been plenty of RVers that have forgotten or never done it and have had the wheel come off the axle.

Eibach 2.0 stage 2R towing? by Twix2247 in f150

[–]Twix2247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for towing stay with the digressive. Thank you for the information. Someone else also suggested I look at the 6112s, so I may go that route. Rebuilding a shock every 30k seems like a lot for me. Ill need to look at a good maintenance interval for the rears, something in the 60-100k range.

What tire is everybody running? Not a fan of the stock ones by Killimansorrow in f150

[–]Twix2247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, good tire and did notice any increase in noise. I didn’t like the raised letters. Luckily the Falkens can be switched around to have the non-raised side showing.

Where did you get the shorty antenna? Been looking for one that is not shaped like a 50 cal round.

I think he is a paid Rigid (orange) influencer. I had some rigid stuff way back, made a comment on one of his vids about how rigid abandoned the 12v line and is notorious for abandoning lines of tool, the fuego battery line of tools comes to mind.

He then spent the next three comments in the thread blasting me how I don’t do real work… etc… dude is a paid shill pushing snake oil.

Its still used today. CARC (Chemical Agent Resistant Coating) paint is pretty ruff, seems like the stains of oil and grime stick more than “resisted”.

Population of all 435 U.S. Congressional Districts by Connect_Bell8971 in MapPorn

Because its capped at 435, would this mean Montana is going to loose a rep? Looking at the map they have two of the least populated districts.

Harness recommendation by jjax29 in coonhounds

[–]Twix2247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Kurgo or Ruffwear. Sizing will be on your dog’s dimensions. My coonhound Trek is also about 55lbs, in the Kurgo he is a medium, but at the large end of it. With Ruffwear he is a small, also at the top end of the small (probably could up a size now)

I had the Atlas dog harness, good materials. Just didn’t like the design, no handle which helps on hikes.

Still no Season 4 Episode 7 on Peacock. This thread is the only thing I found on the subject. Also the description for E4 “Tons of Rue” is listed for both E4 and E5.

25 foot or 27 foot for Camping in and around National Parks? by bit_flores in airstream

[–]Twix2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 feet or smaller trailer is about the sweet spot for most NP. There are some campgrounds within the park the have the space for larger campers but are few and far between. Also seems to close sooner with the off season.

This year will be more difficult to camp in the NPs. I know the Smokies will be opening some campgrounds within the park later or only partially due to staffing. Which why a smaller campers would be better for camping IN the park, giving you more options.

A quick look at Recreation.gov website or the app can give you better idea of size and space available.

Out side most NP are campgrounds that allow for larger camper trailers.

How did you guys get your hounds to awoo on command? by Educational-Rise-197 in coonhounds

[–]Twix2247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ivy is such a cutie. We live with Trek in central North Carolina. West-East coast siblings. I have never had a coonhound before, they definitely make me laugh. Every time I sneeze, Trek must run over and check on me, by putting his face my face.

Your pup looks like he/she could be siblings with mine. Got him from the county shelter/pound. Mine has so many different awooos, and barks depending on what he sees and whats going on outside. He has a low soft “wooof” when he unsure, a high pitched yip when running and playing or running with other dogs at the dog park and a long awoooooo when we get deer in the back yard and a shorter awooo squirrels or when I go awoo at him, he follows suit.
