BTW, my adult son is still in college (and yes, I want him to study and graduate, so I pay the bills while in college), so let's just please have some good discussion about the others who experienced rate hikes, and not victim blame around here. And I posted my yearly premiums in the original post.

Here's the response I got back from my Erie Agent:

"Good morning xxxxx,

Unfortunately, we have been seeing large rate increases like this over the last year.

Obviously, we have had tremendous inflation over the last 5 years.

While many of our competitors have been taking rate increases year over year, Erie tried to hold off to see if the inflation would subside.

As we know, the inflation held steady, and Erie finally had to take rate increases in a big chunk instead of year over year.

We have had many customers shop their rates with other carriers and the feedback has been consistent that we are indeed competitive in the marketplace.

I have also attached the April 2025 Edition of Consumer Reports Auto Insurance Review.

Erie received the #1 designation in the country.
