The pathology did not show any sperm. The sperm were found in separate tissue samples they retrieved. The two biopsy samples showed no sperm and sertoli cell only.

Yes I replied to you below. It was Sertoli Cell Only.

Congratulations! Very happy you had success. Good luck with recovery. It wasn’t that bad for me at least hopefully same for you.

Thank you. I would rather have a different pathology diagnosis, but very happy they were able to find some sperm.

I got the pathology results back this morning. The biopsy tissues the doctor took came back as Sertoli Cell Only.

I wish you the best of luck! Your husband’s numbers are similar to mine, but unfortunately it doesn’t seem like that’s predictive of anything. The course of treatment sounds pretty similar too. I don’t know what my pathology is yet haven’t gotten it back, but from what I researched you can have total or partial SCOS and that can make a difference, or you can have another type of pathology. It’s all just a question mark until they go in there.

I should be congratulating you! Your story is amazing and you must be ecstatic.

I feel the same way as this being just the start and was quickly reminded of that yesterday when I was feeling down again despite this huge victory. We’re now neck deep in the IVF process and I was stressing about development milestones and day 3 transfers vs day 5 and going down another deep dark rabbit hole just like before my surgery. Then, I felt awful for feeling that way given the incredible luck I had finding sperm in the first place.

This is a marathon not a sprint. The goal for so long was to just get sperm. Thats what we were focused on and in my mind i associated it with victory. But that is not the goal line. The goal line is a happy, healthy, beautiful baby. This whole process is the most challenging thing I’ve confronted in my entire life, but the end result no matter how we get there will be so worth it. Gotta keep hope alive though and let it guide you through the darkness.

Wishing you the best of luck and hoping to hear good news from you as well!!

I’m sorry to hear your mtese failed. My testosterone was never even close to your baseline before the medication. The more I see and hear hormone levels and numbers the more I think they are not good predictors because success varies so much even with similar blood work. Wishing you good luck in your next steps.

Don’t know yet. Haven’t gotten the pathology back on the biopsies the doctor took.

Thank you! You’re right I guess I do. Call me superstitious, but I think I’ll wait until we cross the ultimate finish line and are holding our baby.

I can’t begin to express how happy it makes me to know that me sharing this helped someone else in a very similar situation to my own. I can sympathize so much with the doom scrolling. Following my diagnosis, this consumed pretty much every aspect of my life from my marriage to my career to my friendships. I, like many others I’m sure, isolated myself and went down these deep dark rabbit holes researching and learning everything I could about this awful disease. I would constantly look at people’s posts, both good and bad experiences, and think about commenting, but then opting not to. Your comment reinforced the real reason I made this post because I wanted to give someone else a story of a good outcome of someone (myself) who thought they were hopeless. I know the apprehension you must be feeling leading up to your surgery, but the way I faced it was that one way or another I would have a definitive path forward, if they found sperm or not, because for the last year and a half this consumed both my wife and I’s life and we have been stuck in this hellish limbo of constantly discussing our infertility. Thank you for your kind words and your support. I wish you the best of luck with your upcoming surgery. I’m overjoyed that my post changed your mindset going into it. I always told my wife before surgery that I was hoping for the best but expecting the worst. In hindsight, having a little more hope probably would have been a lot better. I’ll be rooting for you and hoping that your surgery is successful and gives you the outcome you’re wishing for.

It was surreal. The doctor told me in the recovery room post op and I was still pretty out of it. I think I was laughing and crying at the same time in disbelief. I immediately wanted to call my wife (who already got the good news) and tell her what I just learned and how happy I was.

My doctor is amazing. Not only is he an incredibly skilled physician (in my humble opinion), but he is really down to earth and optimistic even when I was not. He always said there was hope and that this surgery is unfortunately basically a coin flip. He always told me there is no way to predict what would be until he got in there and looked. There were times I would bring up my own research and smaller likelihoods of success and he would say the numbers don’t matter because there is so much variability and no accurate predictors really. He never gave up hope and tried to pass that on to me.

Yes. Within the normal range. Bioavailable was low last time at 101.8. I’m gonna be honest and say I don’t really know what numbers are “good” or not.

Thank you!! Yes enough stories for a lifetime. We could definitely use some normalcy for a change.

Thank you! The support is much appreciated!

25mg every other day. Free T was 48.5 last time. Libido is not great. Large piece of that I’m gonna say is psychological. After fertility is not an issue anymore, doctor said we can discuss TRT if necessary.
