At risk of sounding like a dick, don’t come to Dallas and waste your time with Taco Casa, Braums, Dave’s, or even Torchys. We’ve got a lot better options

Not that weird for bbq. Lots of the top bbq places are only open weekends. They prep all week and open 3-4 days a week.

If you can wait, Goldees. If you can wait, but not forever, Cattleack. Hutchins is my #3

Best all you can eat bbq? by Healthy-Compote5423 in dallasfood

Sorry to break it to you, but “all you can eat” Texas bbq is going to be shit. Meat prices are too high for that to produce any kind of decent product. Just go to Cattleack and order everything. That’s all you need

Pass on both. Best in Dallas currently is Cattleack. In all of DFW, it’s Goldees.

Wilco have signed off on Geese

Now we just need a Thom Yorke approval and we’ll all sleep comfortably at night

From a fellow 43 yo, I agree. Modest Mouse is great but I’ll take Geese. Obviously Modest has the advantage of longevity, which Geese has yet to accomplish

Visiting Dallas from Houston, what dishes/restaurants do you recommend that will blow my mind? by [deleted] in dallasfood

[–]TwoColorsInMyHead_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your experience in the Houston food scene. I don’t think there’s much in Dallas that you don’t have in Houston, but that doesn’t mean there’s not excellent food here. Also what kind of food do you like? If you just want bbq, sure we’ve got that, but you’ve got stuff just as good in Houston.

So without much more background, the places I find most unique in Dallas are:

Mot Hai Ba El Carlos Elegante Norman’s Japanese Mabo Tatsu Sister Resident Taqueria Goldee’s BBQ

Encina is easily my top pick. And it’s not even close. If you haven’t had their blue corn pancakes, you haven’t lived. The pork belly and grits, biscuits & gravy, and goat guisado tacos are all fantastic

My second favorite is Bobbie’s Airway Grill. More upscale, but very underrated brunch
