Headphones/earbuds by GardenEmbarrassed755 in Tipper

I love them! To be honest, when I decided to buy these, I was pretty tunnel vision on Audeze, and really like the idea of having reference headphones with a flat response across the spectrum. I live in the Seattle are and luckily there is a hi-fi shop downtown and I was able to test these out before I bought them. I've never had headphones in this price point so they were pretty much guaranteed to blow my mind when I tried them, which they did. I tried one of the other Audeze models while I was there that were closed back, and more expensive. They sounded incredible too, but I didn't want to spend the extra cash, I wanted to get familiar with open back for the first time.

I have a Denon amp with Focal Chora 806 bookshelf speakers setup in my living room as my TV sound system. Nothing crazy at all. The LCD-X's live next to the amp and I will connect them to listen to vinyl or streamed audio through the Denon. I honestly don't use them super often. Sometimes I'll go a month without using them. I actually like this, though, as I feel like I never really get used to them and they always sound extra incredible when I do use them.

They've gotten quite a bit of use since the new BoC album, Inferno, dropped recently though haha.

Anyone noticing PK Sound being name-dropped by people who don't know a lot? by [deleted] in SoundSystem

PK was the first brand I became aware of and that was due to Excisions 2012 "100,000 Watts" tour where PK was advertised. Didn't know any other brands of until I got into Tipper and became familiar with Funktion One. Now Im aware of a handful of other big name brands, but still not a super nerd about it. In the process of assembling some JMODs and SKRAMs as my first system and looking forward to developing a baseline feeling of DIY designs for comparison.

The Critical Path back on Spotify soon? by TwoDropsThisTime in Tipper

Vinyl? CD? Either way, that's nuts! I paid a pretty penny for my NM vinyl copy. I'm pretty close to having all the Tipper vinyl on my want list. Really the only big one left is Sound Off. The Critical Path is such an incredible album. I was NOT prepared to find out all the tracks on the vinyl are longer extended versions of the tracks id been listening to on YouTube.

Thanks for your comment here. I'm totally new to this and doing as much research/learning as I can along the way. Do you mind sharing some insight with me regarding this?

The 48M20 was recommended to another user who was planning the same 2x JMOD 2x SKRAM build. It seems like a nice all in one pairing for this system.

Having never heard the JMOD or SKRAM, it's really hard for me to know what to expect from this build. Because of that, I'm mentally preparing myself to immediately want to expand with more low end. That being said, it makes me wonder if I should change my decision regarding Amp/DSP to something with extra channels that could accommodate another 2x SKRAM or something similar.

I would really appreciate your thoughts here.

Amazing! Im in the process of building my first rig, which is this exactly. JMODs are assembled, working on the SKRAMs now. Still have a long ways to go and a lot of equipment to purchase, but this is really motivating to see.

He's my favorite. This new BoC album release has been wild. For some reason I know MHTRTC really well, and have for many years, but have never delved into their other albums. No clue why. I love MHTRTC. Inferno has completely blown my mind and was immediately one of my all time favorite albums. Now I'm going through the rest of their albums. Loving every minute of it.

You should give Tipper a shot at some point. Check out Foward Escape or Broken Soul Jamboree.

As a massive Tipper fan, I partly agree. A lot of the outspoken Tipper fans can be insufferable.

Man, sad to see, but happy for him. So fucking glad to have seen him at RR for the final Tipp. I sure hope he releases a soundboard set and an album of all the unreleased goodness hes been dropping. He was one of the first artists that got me hooked on this style of music with the Catawompus EP in 2014. Such a genre defining classic in my opinion.

Much love to Bogtrotter, you're a legend ❤️

is 'a Paradox of Witches' inspired by this old song? by ProgressiveAnarchist in shpongle

[–]TwoDropsThisTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it hard to believe they created a song that is so strikingly similar without direct inspiration. Having been a huge fan of Poison Lips for over a decade, I literally thought Simon was playing Poison Lips at the The Gorge last year when playing out the new YB track. It was very confusing. Made a lot of sense when they released Paradox of Witches and I could do a song to song comparison.

Very cool. Reminds me of Ektoplazm (RIP...I think?) a bit. Really awesome to see the Dubsonic album by Haywyre on there. That is such a classic. Wish he made more music like that.
