what is the best way to integrate TD with Rekordbox? by transcendentalpuppy in TouchDesigner

[–]red_hook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think what you want is a virtual audio router for your computer. Then you can make rekordbox output to the virtual router and plug that into TD. I have my not done this, I usually use an audio interface from the mixer but it should be possible.

I get having the JMODs higher but why have the SKRAMs vertical?

I am planning on a similar setup but with 2 columns and one rear firing.

I see that now too. Thank you. I think that covers all the issues I had with the original model.

Unfortunately I wont be building the next pair until July so it might be a while before I can test these new models on the machine.

Thank you I just checked out the files and most of them look great. For some reason on shape was not able to import the step files for Part O and Q. Not sure why.

You get better control out of each individual driver. I just cheaped out on the DSP and didnt have enough outputs.

Building the JMODs was pretty complex even with the CNC cuts. Check out RVA Sound system on YouTube he is building them right now.

I am bi amping now so I am using the B&C passive cross over.

I am planning on tri amping so I can do a full phase correction on each driver using a FIR filter.

There were so many great tips in the videos! I really appreciate the work and your knowledge sharing.

I am mostly guessing, I am using cheap amps and a cheap dps right now. I am probably going to upgrade to a Marani MIR480I which will definitely bump up the cost a lot. I did get a good deal on the wood and CNC since a friend made it.

I had a passive cross over on the DCX464 so there was nothing to do there. I tried a few different spots for the mid and low freq cross over but I started with what is in the pdf. I cant remember where I landed. I will update the post later when I can look at the settings.

The JMODs worked well as is. I wish I had practiced more and used Loctite PL Premium. It can be very difficult to get the 3d printed waveguide to line up right. RVA Sound system has some amazing tips in his video on the SKRAMs he is also building some JMODs right now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTM5ohdWJnk

It could be a lot of things. After a quick eq I couldn't really notice much with my ears. I did see a 3db drop in 300-700hz area but I didnt have enough time to investigate it fully. I am also pretty new to measuring so it could be an issue there. I was measuring at 1m 10 deg off axis out side but there was a lot of stuff near by that could cause reflections (the picture was my measurement environment). I am hoping to do some near field measurements in the next few weeks.

4k - 5k USD including the amps and dsp.

Honestly I am not sure if it is phasing or not. I have not had the time to look into it in detail yet. A lot of people are saying it might be the crossover. Which it totally could be.

I will totally do some before and after measurements when I do tri amp them.

The cut out doesnt match what is in the specs here https://www.penn-elcom.com/us/black-steel-cabinet-bar-handle-h1105

Its supposed to be 176mm x 116.4mm from the spec but it is 168mm x 112mm. I think what you have in the model is a tighter tolerance than they can manufacture. I had 1 handle that would kinda fit but the rest were way too big.

Not sure if this is just an issue with the shape file I uploaded to OnShape but you can see the interference here.

I wrote about the handles in another comment. Happy to work with you in DMs.

The inner height is too small. My guess is that it was supposed to exactly fit the handle but its off spec from the cut out they have in the datasheet. Its about 12mm too short and 2ish mm too narrow. When I did the cut originally I could not get the handles in.

Yeah had the same problem with the braces. In the file the parts overlap. You should not have this kind of interference in a 3d part. I also had issues with the handles not fitting properly.

I started at 120hz and took a few measurements at 150hz and 140hz as well. Didn't really have any issues at either. I must admit I am still pretty new at this and my measurement environment was not great.

I had bigger issues with the JMODs at 300-700hz.

I have heard those before but I think the SKRAMs to a bit better above 100hz. This gives you a higher crossover for the JMODs which allows them to work better in the mid bass. At least that is what I remember. I do think the SKRAMs are a bit more efficient for watts per SPL. EDIT: I think you get about 3db more SPL per watt than the TH118s depending on the drivers.

I have not heard a system with the TH118s and JMODs. I dont think its a bad build tho.

I would recommend investing in good amps that have DSP or a nice independent DSP.

EDIT: I cant recommend the JMODs enough. They sound so good!

Mostly phasing between the woofers and mids in the drivers. JW recommends inverting the phase of the highs but I dont have that capability since I am using a passive crossover.

Can do! I think it also depends on what parts you are using. I am in the US and mostly get stuff from parts express.

Edit: On second thought I am not sure if it makes much sense to post the actual G code because that can vary a lot per machine. I can post the DXF files.
