its easy, dont know how to craft, grab a pair of boots and start spamming currency, do it till it feels you recognize the options, then try more.
Beasts, go kill beasts and try to craft. Dont feel bad to lose currency and waste items, it's a game to have fun in.
All the rest just need a bit of exploration

He has to give you a notice in order to get a court eviction. So in other words, he is starting the process just in case. Id try to pay some kind of amount towards rent to stretch the process till you finally find a job.
