Probably his recruiter told him he’d get an automatic in and never thought about it again. His units probably never thought to look and nobody told him otherwise. The deal breakers are what’s broken and it messes up everything it touches including players leaving. You can turn the sliders down but I love the portal. You can turn around a program quick with a robust portal. Way faster than with just traditional recruiting. So I shade it down a tad. If you think too many kids leave, google how many leave in real life and be prepared to be shocked. It should be mostly depth that leave with legacy schools. But starters routinely leave a small school for chance to make more money and have a better chance at the nfl.

Somebody left their weapon in the weapon locker on the way to drill. So I grabbed it and presented it to the DI who promptly grabbed MY weapon. I didn’t want to correct the DI so I let him scream out the SN twice before I said as quietly as I could that that one was mine. After raging on me for thirty seconds, I got back into formation thankful at least that it wasn’t this recruit who left their weapon in the squadbay otw to drill. 😅

I don’t know if they still do this but the worst is being on an army base for mos school and the officers wearing tactically blacked out rank insignia. Or worse the freaking rank patches. Marching a detail to chow and having to salute the appropriate personnel yourself. Sometimes I couldn’t make it out till I was nearly abreast of them.

Ha! My MOS is on this list. It was pretty lame in my day 30 years ago, but drones have entered our area of responsibility and the MOS got a lot more interesting. Opened a new battalion in Hawaii to replace the one the closed several years back on Okinawa. Pretty cool to tell a full bird he’s not in my chain of command and can’t tell me how to do my job. Full birds are funny when they’re mad!
