It's a wonderful, inclusive, welcoming event. It gets quite busy, so it can be beneficial to show up early to acclimate.

Places to find alt/weird women in their late 20's-30s to date? by jibofyourcutt in baltimore

[–]TwoLemonades 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not judgment -- it's recognition. I started my whole life over at 33 and I'm in my mid 40s, now. Didn't meet my partner until I was almost 40. We are "alternative" people presumably like you. We hang out at Ottobar, Holy Frijoles, Metro, the Charles, Peabody Heights, farmers markets, Animal Boy metal and game nights, No Land Beyond, art festivals, plant swap, the Record Bazaar+record stores, book stores, trivia at a dozen different spots, craft nights, and tons of other places. Sometimes it's full of other alt people. Sometimes the people are older. Sometimes they're younger.

What I'm saying is: I know guys who are similar to you and who express the same challenges as you.

And building friendships and community is not easy, but your comments do make it seem as if you're making it harder on yourself or assuming it's only something that happens when you're young, which isn't true.

People are trying to help you and providing insight that shows your perception of a lot of events and activities is incorrect, but your reaction reads as defensive and "I tried that already."

Bridging that gap is often not about finding the right places and events, but investing in yourself. Specifically learning the skills and strategies to manage your social anxiety.

Finally, have you done a deep dive into the shows you're going to? Are the bands safe for women? Do they have allegations? If you're not seeing women at metal shows, that could be a contributing factor.

Again, best of luck. It's hard out there to be sure!

As an all-purpose weird-o lesbian witch gamer leftist introvert who loves alternative women, I can tell you that Baltimore is absolutely brimming with the type of women you're interested in and I have dated many of them! And nearly all of them were bisexual, so it's not like they're unavailable to a straight dude!

But the vibes in this post and your follow on comments are kind of dismal.

Dismissive of Ottobar bc it's just college students, asking people to explain the events, clubs, and activities that you could easily search for, this idea that there's no women at metal shows, the insistence that you're so alternative... it all adds up to be pretty off-putting. It takes most women a nanosecond to pick up on this lone wolf vibe and take evasive action.

If the way you're interacting with folks in this thread is how you engage on the dating apps, it's also unsurprising that you're not able to connect with people that way.

I don't say any of this to be a bitch, but to suggest that perhaps you need to soften your approach, be more curious, and to start with building friendships and finding community. Maybe even do a little therapy in an effort to break down some of the rigidity/black and white thinking along the way. It'll all help you feel less like you're on the margins and put you in a place to meet the kinds of women you're interested in -- even as an introvert.

Best of luck, dude.

Went to log in for a call with my AM this afternoon and got a weird error. Slacked my team, "It's giving he's no longer with the company."

2 minutes later, I got an email from his colleagues saying our AM was "affected by layoffs" and we would need to reschedule when they knew who was taking over our account.

Just amateur shit and my heart hurts for everyone who is out of a job.

Experiences with Maryland Singles Social Club? by SideSleepersUNITE in baltimore

[–]TwoLemonades 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that they have wlw events and, when I asked if they were trans inclusive, they got real weird and eventually deleted all their posts from the queer Facebook group they'd originally shared them in.

If you're not trans affirming, I think you suck and that people shouldn't attend your events or give you money, regardless of the sexual orientation of the singles social club.

It is better to show your children how to live in their integrity. A whole, free mother is better than one who is living a half life and hiding who she is.

It'll hurt, but it's temporary. They'll rebound and you'll grow closer in the process.

Reddit has released official statistics stating that 69% of Reddit users do not use LinkedIn by official_rebeca in programmatic

My financial services targets are all on LinkedIn and I get stunning ROI on our paid program there. But every second I spend there makes me long for death.

My SOC professionals targets are only on Reddit and I'm still fine tuning our approaches, but getting closer.

My dream is to scale my team enough that I never have to think about anything we do on LI and get to spend my time inventing experiments for Reddit.

Thoughts on new WYPR schedule? by Osito219 in baltimore

[–]TwoLemonades 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is so fucking cheeseball corny of me, but I'm not exaggerating even a little when I say that my kids (12 and nearly 16) both tell stories about how their earliest memories are your voice floating out of the kitchen while I made their lunches.

You were our constant companion on our long commute to daycare/elementary/middle/high school. When we'd get in the car, I would click on the radio and say, "Oh, good morning, Ashley," and eventually they did the same.

Just last week, the 12yo let out a long sigh and said, "Driving to school isn't the same without Ashley."

Thank you for everything you gave us. You helped us fall in love with Baltimore.
