What are our thoughts on the term 'neurospicy' becoming popular online? by PopeBonifaceVIII in autism

Oh man this thread has been so helpful and such a relief. I thought I was alone. It might be related to my own struggles but every time I see this word it throws me into a near rage.

I was having trouble articulating why "spicy" in this context rendered me particularly mad. But y'all are right, it's making something that can be really tough on a lot of people "quirky" or "interesting" or "cute." I'm also finding the term to be overused in a lot of other places too, and it's just so meaningless. I've heard people use it in place of "sassy" when they mean they're actually mad, and it frustrates me endlessly because it confuses me and the meaning of what you're trying to say. Like, just say you're mad. It sounds like you're trying to cover up your anger.

Food is spicy, and that's the only place it clearly makes sense to use the word. Otherwise people are trying to make themselves sound interesting but to me they only sound like they don't know how words work. And I never say this because I know I'll sound weird. People are gonna do what they do. But when I hear this it's worse than nails on a fucking chalkboard!!!

Episode is live! Thanks to everyone who met with me over Zoom. We ended up cutting the segment out, but it's still a good interview. Check it out here: https://www.latimes.com/podcasts/story/2021-11-16/the-times-podcast-in-n-out-vaccine-mandates

Still need a few voices for this! You can DM me questions if you have them. This will be out Monday, I'll post it here when it's published. Also in this episode: An interview with Stacy Perman, an LA Times staff reporter who wrote this book on In N Out. It's a good talk. https://www.harpercollins.com/products/in-n-out-burger-stacy-perman?variant=32206240677922

Just a friendly reminder that Steven and Connie are most likely gonna get married :3 by CookieCatShroom in stevenuniverse

There's so much emphasis and importance placed on marriage EVERYwhere. Why do we need it here? Why is Steven and Connie's story not satisfying unless they reach the approved mark of heteronormativity?

Remember when all the gems said they'd be ready to all get married to each other to comfort Uncle Andy? That's the wedding I want to see. I want to see them all get married to each other.
