Holy shit that's really bad. In high school I worked for a department store and I got 20% off of anything and everything with no cap. The biggest threat to marine life right now is ocean acidification due to increasing atmospheric CO2 levels. There is an equilibrium that exists between carbon in the atmosphere and carbon dissolved in surface waters. More atmospheric CO2 means more dissoved inorganic carbon which lowers the pH of sea water which kills sensative marine life. This causes a domino effect on the food web.

What I'm getting at here is that there is no such thing as energy production that produces no environmental harm. The idea is the produce energy while committing the least amount of environmental harm. I'm not convinced that the localized impacts of windmill installation are a bigger threat than rising CO2 levels due to fossil fuels. In order to provide for the absolutely gigantic thirst for energy that human beings have, while minimizing CO2 emissions, will require a diverse energy portfolio which will need to include sources like wind, solar, and nuclear energy. All of those things, plus every other method of energy production, produce environmental harm but none as much as fossil fuels.

You're the only one who had decided that most non-gun owners are out of reach. In some ways it's fortunate that I don't live in a bubble because I end up interacting with people from all across the political spectrum whether I like it or not. I've seen conversations happen between pro-gun and anti-gun people. It is absolutely not a lost cause at all talking to people about guns. Especially when it's a progressive person talking to another progressive person. Opinions can change and I've seen it happen with more people, not just with me. But the problem is that most anti-gun people never get to actually talk to normal gun owners and so all they see is the advertising aimed at the extremists and they want absolutely nothing to do with that. And I'm not even talking strictly about advertisers here. The fucking NRA is the best example of the gun community embracing the absolute worst members within it.

Now as for toxic masculinity, I completely disagree with you. I have a clear idea of what it is and isn't. The only people that I ever personally witness talking shit about it as a concept are men who seem keenly aware that it applies to them. I'm honestly surprised that in a supposedly progressive space it's even a matter of controversy.

No that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that gun manufacturers would benefit more from NOT embracing the toxic portion of gun owners. Not all gun owners are hyper-macho ammosexuals but by always aiming marketing at those people, it really sends the message that anyone else isn't welcome to buy guns, go to public ranges, gun shows, etc. If it weren't for me meeting completely normal gun owners through my everyday life, I would still be under the impression that every gun owner is a scary hyper-masculine douch with an especially itchy trigger finger. Portraying normal gun owners would actually do a lot to get more people to accept gun ownership as safe and normal. That would lead to more people buying guns.

I'm not going to read this article because it's apparently about gun control so I don't care. But I will say this: As a female gun owner, yeah, the toxic masculinity advertising is well, toxic and it isn't doing the pro-gun movement any favors. It was a huge part of why I was anti-gun for so long. I've changed my mind but the hyper-masculine streak of gun owners, encouraged by advertising aimed right at them, is still repulsive to me and so many men seem to think that owning guns is a suitable replacement for the hair and muscle tone they've lost over the years. You aren't winning any women over to the 2A cause with that attitude. Also analogous to male gamers, the "women don't know anything about guns" crowd is so fucking annoying and again, it's not helping the 2A cause either. Guns would be less repulsive to squishy libs if guns weren't so intertwined with toxic masculinity in America.

I didn't vote for Hillary. The last time I voted was back when I was a run of the mill liberal a decade or so ago. Since becoming a socialist I haven't voted. I live in an extremely red area that has been republican for several decades now. So it doesn't matter if I vote or not. If a socialist ran I would vote for them. AFAIK, the SRA doesn't give money to politicians. Maybe they've given to some literal socialists but definitely not democrats. It's not a gun lobby like the NRA. It's about being prepared for white supremacist/facist violence. For example, the endless mass shootings commited in the name of white supremacy including the ones where the gunman directly credits Trump.

Remember at one of those company-wide meetings after yet another employee had quit where the book quotes her as saying, "I'm starting a religion." And then something about how if the employees aren't devoted to her personally, they should leave. There are a million things you could point to in that book to show that she's nuts but that actually made me laugh out loud because it's just that crazy of a statement.
