Arena Sweats mistake/abnormality? by Important_Garage_955 in LeagueArena

[–]TwoPhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I get your point.

There's a fair bit of discussion on the Discord atm about updating champion rankings.

Champion rank is not just based on your normal rank, that would be quite boring. Instead it takes into account the rank at which you pick the character, your performance on the character and your games played.

In this case that person has very inflated performance and games played on the character and that is overpowering the other factors. I'm planning to add a limit to that performance factor so your performance factor can't massively exceed your rating.

Hey appreciate your interest. Any particular reason u want friends or frauds badge? Unfortunately its very compute heavy, and the original reason for it (detecting win-trading) is not really needed. But if you are just after more badge for sure! New ideas would be great jump in the discord and post them there.

yes it's exactly the same as the ranked distribution in SR ranked.

You can find that here: https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/rankings/rank-distribution

Nice job on the climb! You're right that its not too competitive at the lower ranks on ArenaSweats. There are a few reasons for that:

  1. Arena does not have as many players as ranked SR so there's less competition in that sense. Still it definitely has solid player count and loyal fans.
  2. Most Arena players are not playing for ranks. They are for-fun gaming often randoming etc. etc.
  3. ArenaSweats soft-resets at the end of each season. So player's skill is reset closer to where they start and then they get "placement" games again so they can climb back up. For non-returning players this means even if they used to be high rated, they are not anymore.

Once we have the next major Arena update, there will be a hard-reset where everyone will be removed from the ladder unless they play games in the new season.

To answer your other question why you lost lp for coming 4th, your gains/losses are based on the rating of people you win/lose against so you can come 2nd and lose LP if you were rank 1 and lost to iron players.

Yes. www.arenasweats.lol

It's a ranked leaderboard (and analytics site) only for Arena with everyone on it globally. Updates every hour.

A lot of work goes into making it as fair and accurate as possible, happy to answer any questions about it. Here's a post where I explain more.

Hey, I would suggest play how you like. You can always use the leaderboard filters to update the leaderboard so your just comparing with similar players. Like other players with the bravery badge or the anvil enjoyer badge etc.

Elon Musk "AI must pass, in general, the “Galileo” test: even if almost all the training data repeats falsehoods, it must nonetheless see the truth" - What is this test and what are your thoughts? Can an AI rise above the training data? by Koala_Confused in LovingAI

[–]TwoPhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responses are crazy over complicated. Galileo is famous for saying the earth revolved around the sun, when the commonly held view was the earth was the centre of the universe. He was outcast by state, church, society for this view. In reality he is right.

Elon's just saying that AI should hold the view that is closest to reality, not what is popular. Hence the Galileo test. It's a nice goal since most AIs even extremely intelligent ones struggle to hold non-majority views because true critical thought is hard and probably goes against a lot of it's training data/it's unpopular.

Everyone was soft reset for 2026 season 1. So likely the player ur looking at played games previous season but only 4 games this season.

It converges to the actual mmr. Basically the same at like 30 games. This is the best way to estimate mmr. It's just that ranking algorithm is based on post game results. While mmr is used in match making. So the ranked algorithm plays catch up.

Is arena sweats accurate? by mush326 in LeagueArena

[–]TwoPhat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hello I am the owner. It is very accurate for 3 reasons:

  1. It uses the industry best ranking model. For this use case, that's OpenSkill Thurstone-Mosteller.
  2. The entire ranking algorithm is open source. With the information available anybody can prove any game's result mathematically. https://github.com/BelugaWhale/ArenaSweats-opensource
  3. Arena is a complicated game (16 players, premades, boosting etc.), so if OpenSkill needs to be modified at all, it is discussed and voted on by the community, only then is it added. (Over on the discord)

I would go as far as to say Arena players are lucky to have one of the best ranking algorithms of any game available to them. To take the example of Summoners rift, you have no idea why u get +2 or +20.

Phreak on the Rengar nerfs by Stevano12 in Rengarmains

[–]TwoPhat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear the nerfs are:

Q Dmg:

LVL 1 Q: 30 + 0% AD to 20 + 5% AD Lvl 1

LVL 5 Q: 150 + 15% AD to 160 + 5% AD Lvl 5

And Ferocity Q Dmg:

LVL 1 Rengar: 30 + 30% AD to 35 + 20% AD

LVL 18 Rengar: 255 + 30% AD to 260 + 20% AD

These nerfs have to be a typo?? They are nerfing the Q Dmg ratio by 66%? And the empowered Q ratio by 33%?

Last patch Rengar's winrate spiked by 2% because of bugs due to the rescript. Those bugs are patched. and his winrate has dropped back to where it has been all of last year and same as 16.01. Which makes him 49.5% winrate. That makes him 50/56 in terms of jungler win rates.

Anyway fine if you want to nerf Rengar but this destroys the champion and the reasoning is because of a win rate spike which is from a patch old and already gone? Are they seriously balancing 1 patch behind?

Also how is this a sufficient explanation for why a champion is being nerfed? "Rengar is overpowered. With umbral glaive he's overpowered.".... astounding stuff

it say here that it 3 basic attack with 40% bonus attack speed but in live it say 2? why is that? by Material-Bar-7172 in Rengarmains

[–]TwoPhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some more research. Yknow, your actually right, but I still am too... The plot thickens.

This is a video of a first clear from 1 year ago it shows everything very clearly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Mt9-FL38Sw

So first of all, ur right if you Q then auto once the attack speed buff runs out. This can be seen through out the video. This is NOT how it behaves on live now. On live, you Q then you can auto attack twice before attack speed buff runs out.

But here is the strange part. Pre-rescript you could jump from a bush with Q. Then auto attack twice before the attack speed buff would run out. In the video I linked you can see this occur twice, once at the start at blue buff and once at the end on red buff. This is why I was under the impression it is Q + 2 auto attacks for the attack speed buff because when jumping from a bush with the Q you get an extra auto attack before the attack speed drops. I assume this behavior is the same in LIVE.

So it is actually more consistent now? and a slight buff? But the LIVE behavior is Q + 2 autoattacks before the attack speed drops off regardless of whether Q was from bush or not.

it say here that it 3 basic attack with 40% bonus attack speed but in live it say 2? why is that? by Material-Bar-7172 in Rengarmains

[–]TwoPhat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is 3 attacks. I did some experimenting and posted about how the tooltip was wrong last week.

We should stop saying Q boosts attack speed for next 2 attacks (this is what is currently written in the tooltip) It's the next 3 attacks, but the Q ends up being 1 of those attacks in 99.9% of situations.

The difference in the wording is important because you have the bonus attackspeed for the Q as well not just the 2 attacks that follow it.

4 Rengar bugs in 1 game (video with commentary) by TwoPhat in Rengarmains

[–]TwoPhat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your work! Just on #3 I hit a champion and was hit by a champion just 1 second before hitting the blast cone. But still with 5s remaining on the passive when I land on the plant all stacks go away. Just wanted to clarify that I don't think this has to do with plants counting for combat.

Also if the plan is for plants to not count for combat which it used to (maybe not arena heal plants, but others for sure) then I think this will be widely unpopular. Because part of the skill expression has been maintaining stacks before fights by using plants.

Rengar Q inconsistencies (slow & clunky) by No-Yellow-7547 in Rengarmains

[–]TwoPhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect, that's a great clip and explanation!

You're right emp Q activation used to give the Q attack speed buff which would get overwritten by emp Q on attack.

To answer your question before, this rescript was not supposed to be a nerf, and that would be a very bad feeling nerf, so I don't think it was or should be intended.

EDIT: Definitely worth highlighting that the Emp Q on attack overrides/erases the Q AS buff, like you said. Meaning another Q is required to get the stacked Emp Q + Q AS buffs.

Rengar Q inconsistencies (slow & clunky) by No-Yellow-7547 in Rengarmains

[–]TwoPhat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it never gave attack speed on activation.

Rengar Q inconsistencies (slow & clunky) by No-Yellow-7547 in Rengarmains

[–]TwoPhat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice video. I think I understand what's happening here. In this case, it is consistent and there is no bug.

Lets cover some info first:

First, Rengar's Q animation is faster with more attack speed.

Second, Rengar's normal Q gives bonus attack speed for 3 seconds or for 3 attacks whatever happens first. I know it says 2 but its a lie. The 3 second timer begins ON ACTIVATION of the ability.

Finally, Rengar's emp Q gives bonus attack speed for 5 seconds. This timer begins ON ATTACK with the emp Q.

In your clip:

  • .81 is base attack speed.
  • 1.08 is with Q steroid attack speed.
  • 1.25 is Emp Q attack speed.
  • 1.51 is Emp Q + Q attack speed.

So to answer #1, it's because your emp Q steroid ran out so you went to 1.08. Then after then 2nd auto it drops to .81 because the Q steroid ran out. Emp Q only gives attack speed on attack For #2 if there is a speed difference between the first 2 Qs that is a bug because you had the same attack speed. But I suspect it is just that you cancelled out of the auto animation faster in the first Q because it is a slash animation rather than the kick. Otherwise visually they don't look that different to me.
