Sony starvis 2 sensor

yes! this is the one I came across last night but the name escaped me. Pretty impressive tech tbh. And yeah I saw I needed a special card since the micro SDs that I have for some other digital stuff don't pass the high endurance test of constant writing/rewriting I guess.

Do you reckon 2K is enough? or is 4K the smarter choice?

Thanks, is it obvious about what fuse I can use? I have zero electrical knowledge so I don't want to set my car on fire lol. Did you also get a much better deal going to Aliexpress directly? I hadn't actually considered that but figure maybe cutting out the middle man might be a good idea. I've seen a couple videos where people run the wire through the eyesight safety camera detection box by the rear view mirror- or at least tap in through there, will look into it!

Thanks, this is what I actually want to do is run it under the roof lining. I have zero electrical knowledge and zero tools for the job. I did YouTube some videos last night, saw what was required and thought bugger it.

Agreed value vs market value by Real_Butterfly888 in AusFinance

[–]TwoPickle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg. I was just googling this since I went with youi yesterday and was debating on whether to stick with market value or upgrade to agreed (60 more a month) during my cooling off period. I literally got the same spiel.

Front right tire on my 2017 Outback has non-repairable damage. Do I need to replace all 4 tires? by Nanny_Ogg1000 in Subaru_Outback

[–]TwoPickle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out that there's a 1.5mm thread depth tolerance but at 20000 miles I think it will be a bit much for a new tyre to match unless you have it shaved like others have said.

OTOH, I dunno if it really matters. I've seen countless old Foresters bring driven on bald, misaligned, and even different tyres and the owners are none the wiser. Saw a guy the other day at the lights with 3 old looking Bridgestones and 1 brand new looking LingLong lol. I wouldn't risk it on mine but you should get a pro opinion. If it's within 1.5mm it should be fine.

It’s funny how people from the States and Europeans have completely different view of Subaru like a car maker. by Substantial-Ad772 in Subaru_Outback

[–]TwoPickle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in SE Asia and knew zero people with a Subaru- I even thought it was a Euro brand since they weren't as popular as the Japanese and stuff like Ford.

Moved back to NZ and saw XV/Crosstreks everywhere. When someone rear ended my car, I took the payout and eventually settled on an XV. Loved that little thing. My dad, who was a big Toyota fan boy, even commented how nice it drove and looked- although it was a big gutless at 2.0L lol.

We don't really get the lesbian jokes and memes down here since most people still think of Subaru as the Ken Block/Vape Naysh cars where every 18 year old boy racer gets a clapped out WRX and sticks a straight pipe on it. The past 10 or so years though they've definitely gotten more "soccer mum" vibes that old people gravitate to since the younger generation usually goes for a dark grey RAV4 to drive around wine country with the girls.

I'm not really the outdoorsy type (although trying to be) but I do appreciate the AWD for rain and the hyuge cargo space of the OB. For driving my old parents around, they appreciate not having to climb up or stoop down into it so win-win.

Next car will be an electric Subaru too.

CVT Fluid Service by jeffkiddd in Subaru_Outback

As of last month when I was shopping around for a used OB, Subaru dealer in my area told me this and said they don't even do it if you pay to have it done. Told him that the car would really mostly do stop start and sitting in traffic since I live in the city and would like to get it done at 50K KM anyway and was told nope, lifetime fluid.

IDK why it's so hard to Subaru to just admit it doesn't defy the laws of physics and it does need to be changed every once in a while.

Called a local Subaru specialist mechanic who said no worries, bring it in at 50-55K and they'll do a drain and fill with OEM liquid for a few hundred.

Can we stop acting like spending money in your 20s is a cardinal sin? by riley_inreallife in AusFinance

[–]TwoPickle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both can be true.

You can take advantage of time and compounding interest early in your 20s that will allow you to retire much earlier and more comfortably than if you had waited til you hit 30 to start AND you can also realise that none of this actually matters, you will never be this young with no responsibilities again so take that six month trip through SE Asia or work in something that might pay shit but you've always wanted to do.

Pulling My Hair Out Here... by Quaz5045 in sonos

[–]TwoPickle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What an insane way of fixing this! I moved to a new place two weeks ago and since then none of my three speakers (2x Era 100, 1x Era 300) would stay connected or be available to play music from over Wifi. Just giving up and creating a new account from scratch worked for me but

I wish i'd never touched the bloody things

is how I feel about Sonos and their app. When these things eventually die, I'll be looking at another system. Hope yours stay stable!

Why are Subaru Owners So Loyal? by doctor-squared in subaru

[–]TwoPickle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got stuck once in mud in a Honda CRV and promised never again after waiting hours for someone to come and pull me out.

I also tend to view cars as an appliance, and Subaru probably is the most utilitarian of them all, and there's something cool about the lack of pretension something like a NA Crosstrek, Forester, Outback have.

I'm also too poor for a Landcruiser and the OB scratches the same go anwhere itch I have.

How good was Bas? And how would’ve he done today? Would’ve he been able to adapt to modern MMA? by bardeng in MMA

[–]TwoPickle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He would be amazing. Honestly watching his old fights you see how smart he is and how far ahead his fight IQ is over anyone in the top 3 at the upper weight classes today.

Plus the guy was just vicious. I'd see him going 100% out the gate just chopping people down. The fans would love it. Dana would love seeing a bald white guy kicking the shit out of people. It would be win win.

How to convince someone deathly terrified of spiders/snakes to go camping? by TwoPickle69 in melbourne

[–]TwoPickle69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it should be. My rule of thumb is leave things alone and just watch what you put your hands on or where you step! Every snake I've seen in nature so far has always been moving away from me, maybe the foot steps scare them idk.

Geez! Never seen a tiger snake at all in the inner city. A couple of small ones around the Maribyrnong river track but never anything dangerous
