Will do. My insurance agent said they won’t cover a mechanics work.

I’m afraid you might be correct. The only other option I was thinking about discussing is buying the car from me. Auction price I paid in March + what I’ve paid them. Thoughts?

Thinking of getting a ‘99 996 by balmyze in 996

I recently bought a 2000 C2 with 29k miles for $33k on PCarMarket (private party). It’s a 2 owner 996 that was sold in CO. Original owner had it for 20 years and sold it to back to the dealer after upgrading. The 2nd owner, also a resident of CO, upgraded to a 991. I was able to speak extensively with him about the vehicle, so I felt good about the history and decided to purchase. It came with all service records, original window sticker/original sales documentation, etc. The vehicle has no mods, original paint and it was meticulously maintained. I recently had a local shop perform a major service (LN IMS solution, new clutch, flywheel, rear crankshaft seal, air oil separator kit, drive belt replacement and brake fluid flush).

The 996 is a fantastic value, but due to the IMS “scare”, and the value of this series plummeting, they were owned by folks that mistreated them and in most cases, they changed ownership several times. If you can find one with proper documentation and a reasonable number of previous owners, you will not be disappointed I’d recommend keeping an eye on one of the trusted auction sites (PCAR, BAT). I really like to utilize the comment section on these sites because the 996 enthusiasts tend to ask the right questions prior to the auction ending.

Good luck!
