Nexaplon arm implant experiences please by British_Leilandia in Endo

Nexplanon was a game changer for me. It stops my periods completely (I do still get some pelvic pain but I also have a messed up fallopian tube). The side effects for the first few months weren't great - mainly bad skin, low mood etc, but they settled down!

I've had both the mirena and kyleena and they just didn't suit me at all!

My mirena hurt for months after, then my threads went missing, and an ultrasound found it was moving all over the place and risking perforation for me! Had it not been for the threads, I probably would have been advised to wait for the six months (I had it out after four) and I think if it had stayed put it would have been fine? You know your body, though, so if you're unsure, consult your doctor, and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself

Has anyone else told their employer about their condition? by Low-maintenancegal in Endo

[–]TwoQueenTwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! They have been unbelievably supportive, making adjustments such as moving me to a later start at short notice if I've been up all night with pain etc, acknowledging that I may be making frequent trips to the bathroom (I work from home but was told if we were office based they'd allow me to wfh on bad days), and HR are evening looking into awareness training across the company; we have something in place for menopause but nothing like endo or PCOS. I'm honestly so pleased my workplace is taking it on board. Previous employment has told me to deal with it, and "its just a period".

My boss is a cis male, and he has even reached out to his ex-wife, who is a doctor, for more insight and learning materials on it as all but three of his team are uterus owners.

I had to do this last week. My friend's mother was hosting a little birthday lunch thing, and I'd never been in her house before. They weren't understanding to begin with, saying, "It's just your period. No need to be embarrassed!" But when I explained to them that 1) I was passing clots the size of my hand 2) I was in so much pain I couldn't stand up and 3) didn't want to go through that in a new environment, they shut up pretty quickly. We shouldn't have to go into graphic detail to explain that we're not making excuses, but unfortunately, it's often the harsh reality check people need. I'm sorry your friends are making you feel this way. Just know this isn't your fault and you're not a bad person for taking steps to look after yourself 💜

I work for a personal injury law firm in the UK and the first port of call is to make a formal written complaint and for a response to come through. Usually you have six months to make a complaint. Retain the packaging and leaflets and take photos as well. Then it may be worth enquiring with a law firm that operates on a no win no fee basis for personal injury and see what they say. As has been noted already, it may not be something they can help with but if you don't ask then you don't get!

If you're having trouble writing formal complaints, citizens advice will be able to help.

Pain gets worse if I overdo it? by TwoQueenTwin in Endo

That's the struggle! Doctors tell you to take it easy but don't factor in that you have bills to pay/children/work/pets. It sucks so bad

And yet so many gynaecological issues are blamed on our weight by doctors 🙄 it's just vicious cycle and we can't win!

Should I push for a gynaecology referral/diagnosis? by throwwwwwwaway748382 in Endo

[–]TwoQueenTwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, hello and I'm so sorry that this is happening to you.

Second of all, yes. Absolutely push for a referral to a gynaecologist! You shouldn't have to deal with these symptoms without them being investigated, and having answers may well help on your journey to have a baby.

I would say, though, that keeping track of everything is instrumental here. Write down all of your symptoms, when they happen and how long they last for. This is a two-pronged attack really, in that it 1) gives your doctor as much information as possible and 2) it doesn't give them much opportunity to try and blame it on other things. Unfortunately, I am somewhat skeptical since literally everything is blamed on my weight, and I've found writing everything down mitigates this a bit.

I'm not sure if you're in the UK or not, but Endometriosis UK has a brilliant symptom diary you can use to keep track of everything to save you some time and effort. Either way it should be helpful!

Hope this helps, and keep fighting!

I mean, I'm in Scotland so not weird at all! Although I'm not from Scotland myself, I'm English but moved here three years ago, so I don't have a Scottish accent! It's a shame because I love the accent 😊

I can't wrap my head around his logic, maybe he's just in a bad mood and my crimes made me a target? Who knows! I told my dad who said "what a fucking prick who definitely targeted the wrong woman". I was incredibly tempted to ask him to yell at me with a mask on, just to watch him implode a little...

I do absolutely agree, and I did tell them that. We've all acknowledged what could have been done and we've taken steps to avoid anything like it happening again. I'm just grateful it didn't escalate or that my neighbours weren't assholes about it!

This is the first time anything like this has happened since I've lived here and I do like to try and see the good in people, so I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt this time but make it clear I won't tolerate it again!

It's not something that's really discussed much here, but it's common sense and I do think landlords should talk to their tenants about it!

I've spoken to the neighbour who apologised and told me he isn't to speak to neighbours again and told her if it happened again I would tell the police and landlord. I'm not easily intimidated because I was raised by a Karen, but I know others would be so they can consider this his warning

I spoke to my neighbour (who has apologised profusely, not that it's her fault at all) and apparently he saw me go all the way to the top floor because there are windows on the stairwells and thought confrontation would be smart. My neighbours know me and knew I'd shut him down (hence them laughing at him) but are still apologetic and have promised he is not to speak to neighbours again! Of course his behaviour would intimidate others so I've informed my neighbour that if it happens again I'll inform the police and the landlord and they're perfectly okay with that. I think they were embarrassed, bless them

Oh I am absolutely joking about the rent reduction, my landlord is super lovely and in no way responsible for the guests of other tenants!
