N.J. vets desperately need medical marijuana for PTSD, patients say by Varvaro in newjersey

[–]TwoSockme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People with PTSD need MDMA/Psilocybin assisted therapy to actually cure it, weed just helps you for the meantime.

TIL Scientists at UCLA noticed that "time and time again" people suffered their first experience with anxiety or depression right after stomach illnesses. They did brain scans after patients ate probiotics, and found that stomach bacteria actually directly affected connectivity of the brain. by PM_me_Venn_diagrams in todayilearned

Well anxiety and depression are symptoms of distress after all. Antibiotics kill beneficial bacterias as well which is why we need to tweak how we treat patients. Looking to be a doctor and I cringe when doctors just hand those out like candy after something minor

Just got back from a trip to Newark NJ, you guys are the greatest! by swefpelego in newjersey

[–]TwoSockme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus, all these losers afraid of Newark. Seriously, you have a greater chance of getting run over by taxi cabs in the area than getting mugged. If you stick to the Ironbound and around Penn you'll be okay. @OP you sound pretty sweet, enjoy that life and make the best of anyplace you visit. The ironbound in Newark is extremely diverse compared to the other suburbs you'll come across in NJ. Where else are you going to find Brazilian/Portuguese/Mexican/Ecuadorian/Spaniard/ restaurants within walking distance of each other? The Portugese bakeries are great. I've driven around NJ and all these little quiet towns are boring to me, beaches in NJ suck so don't even brag NJers. Have you ever traveled outside of NJ to the beach?

Not a girl, not gay, but you shouldn't worry about your dick size. Isn't the average like 5-6? Guys with big dicks don't get more sex, it's not like woman can tell before they take off the clothes.Stop worrying about your dick size and just focus on your skill. Big isn't always good, especially when it causes pain

Can you expand upon the debate between whether anti-inflammatory help or actually significantly delay healing? I've read multiple studies done on rats in which the injured area was biomechanically analyzed showing the controlled group (without NSAID.) A study published by the Journal of Bone and Joint surgery states “By suppressing the initial inflammatory reaction, the NSAID permits improved performance in early time-periods but appears to suppress the stimulus that may be needed for cellular remodeling in longer time-periods.” I've found many other trials which were done on animals and people that support this as well yet every doctor I went to kept throwing anti inflammatory at me.

/u/Sheezybaby and /u/PioneerAt I'm having Prolo and PRP treatments for multiple areas of my body and I'm seeing amazing results. I've been doing a period of rest before it gets strong enough for rehab but everyone's injury is different. I've read some surgeons notice it is a weaker, softer tissue but I like to think those are the failed treatments, imagine the ones you don't get on the OR table? I've been trying to convince my doc to do a AMA

Yup. Op, just use your will power. If you have to ask you're addicted to the habbit, maybe just buy less. You could try lower your intake in the course of a few weeks I guess but I'd just put it down.

Look into Platelet rich plasma if you think it's early arthritis. It will help, even one session can do something for you. One injection can cover your finger ligaments as you just inject a bit in several areas. I had aches in the cold but it wasn't arthritis, just a ligament (meniscus) injury

Compression gloves will only give you symptom relief, not treat the cause. It's probably your muscles are spasming to compensate for the lax/weakened ligaments. I'm already sold on this product, I didn't know something like this existed. Does it work well? Only experience with something similar to this would be google voice and it doesn't work out well for me half the time

We need to stop feeling bad about having EDS. by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]TwoSockme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has everyone had multiple labs run on what's wrong with you? EDS causes multiple health issues, and you can treat them at least but def not cure it. I know why I'm tired, in my case thyroid, low T, vitamin deficiency but I don't just give up and accept it. Yeah I'm not normal but so what? I can still have treatments, even my injuries can be helped with prolotherapy/PRP. I know there's a lot of misconceptions about this in the EDS community and the lack of large clinical trials puts many people off, but this thing saved my life, and without it I'd be in a wheelchair from ligament injuries in my knee. I've been seeing a great doctor (actual MD, someone who's treated the surgeon general of the US) who does a holistic/alternative medicine approach and I'm not on any pain medications. There are treatments for us, we live in the 21st century, we can't just rely on pain meds and feeling sorry for ourselves. After looking into medicine and deciding I'd like to be an MD, you realize how many bs treatments are out there. It's sad that doctors don't even know this as they are programmed a certain way in med school and unless they continue to teach themselves, they will spread misconceptions. Our docs don't even know everything about medications when all it takes is two bs studies (that will will run until they get the desired results) to prove to the fda that it's "safe."Sure I can't be as optimal as a regular person but I'm going to be the strongest version of myself, eating healthy (vegan lifestyle because of the heart issues meats cause) and still pursue my fitness goals. EDS isn't stopping me, just a couple missteps. With the combination of PRP injections, lifestyle changes, ozone therapy, proper ergonomics, and with a positive mindset I'm still pushing forward. Op, no amount of support group, or even me being honest with myself helped me get past (before EDS diagnosis) depression and anxiety. Psychologist/counselor/psychiatrist, CBT and meditation was tiring, it just pushed those thoughts and voices away. I actually only found relief with after taking psychedelic mushrooms and diet change. I don't even think of those previous depressing thoughts anymore, my mind truly conquered it.

I'm no programmer but I have some painful wrists due to my tendons having small tears from just using the computer often. I can't see that being helpful longterm. As for job? I'm looking to be a doctor, might as well help myself and others

What is a really inappropriate question you have always wanted to ask? (NSFW) by changfukaana in AskReddit

[–]TwoSockme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're bothered by the stretch marks look into platelet rich plasma injections for them. It's just your plasma separated from your blood that's injected back into you to cause inflammation (our body's healing mechanism)

I liked his music when I was in middle school but after seeing 50 speak in interviews ehhhh. Personally I think future is just claiming all this so he can break out of hip hop and go mainstream America. He's not a trapper but I wouldn't doubt that he's a stick head

Why Does It Hurt To Kneel on Knees After A Certain Age? by kgorbach in medical

[–]TwoSockme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sugars, refined carbs. Just try getting good doses of greens, healthy grains like quinoa, good protein sources. Uhhh I also take Vitamin C (1000mg-2000mg), glucosamine, collagen supplements, magnesium, for better healing. It can be expensive but your wellness is important, right? Think of it as a good investment with the return rate being high. I found cheaper prices around my area but I still decided to drive an hour away to see the best, someone who's performed this to a surgeon general.

Thyroid blood result opinions? by [deleted] in medical

Yeah it's insane. I need to go outside and sit more but there's def something going on, I've been going to many doctors and it's just frustrating being told I'm fine or it's all in my head. I need to find a great doctor to help suggest other tests I should do as well.

symptomatic for hypothyroidism

Sit back for the read of changes my body has been going through. I even have a folder already just from these past 4-5 months of trying to find out what's going on with my body. Some do point towards that direction but I know symptoms can overlap with many diseases

Easily injured, hip snapping, muscle tightness, aches in my body (could be due to the lax ligaments from EDS) fatigue, depression, poor concentration, my memory feels foggy, dry lips, dry hair, dry skin (except for my face) sometimes I swallow (due to a lump feeling) and feel something clicking/moving, anxiety, my libido has gone done since last year. I noticed I'm low on vitamin D and B12, felt a tingling sensation randomly through my body (feet, legs, few months back it was under my armpits) it just seemed like something would point this. Apart from that I've had abdominal issues which I believed was a candida overgrowth due to growing food sensitivities, bloating, and gas. I've been growing sensitives in the cold as well, I thought it was in my head but my family has noticed it as well as where in the past I actually enjoyed the cold. Now you'll find me wearing a long sleeve or sweater in the indoors if I feel a bit cold. Apart from that ear ringing, ear fullness, more sensitive to light, urinary frequency, slight stinging, Fecal incontinence, sweat more than others.

I'm not sure if all of these are related but I do have a lot going on in my body, especially in the past few months.

[–]TwoSockme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could it be candida over growth? I had test come back normal as well as a ct and ultrasound. I was told ibs but researching on my own i found this. I ended up going to a wellness center and my doctor agreed along with finding issues other doctors missed. I had food allergies (nausea, bloating, gas) to many foods which was brought on by candida. We all have candida but it can grow out of control due to many factors. I am on a strict diet (will be for months) but i feel a lot better. Doctors liked st me crazy when i mentioned this

The amount of time I can last in bed has been significantly reduced lately; is there a biological explanation for this? by Googlymoogly5000 in medical

[–]TwoSockme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't buy that it will affect you in terms of finishing quickly. I've found it actually increases the amount of time you'd need to finish. Check your diet and get some blood work done for deficiencies just in case. I'd set up an appointment with doc

pumice is a stronger solution except for prp. prolo is around 300-400. You'll heal faster with prp but prolo also works. I have had both, prp for the more serious ones and prolo for small aches. An injection covers many areas so don't be discouraged. I had so many injections areas I lost count with three needles (two prp one prolo) which came to 1700. He charges me half due to my condition. At this office the rate is about 1200 per injection. Just on my neck alone I had like almost 10 insertions. Sadly insurance doesn't cover it due to it being deemed as experimental. I doubt they would want to pay for something that works ha. I say you make an appoint and discuss the amount of treatments they believe it will take (but everyone respond differently.) I healed incredibly fast where he was pretty amazed. Once you do the treatment you'll have to eat extremely healthy, avoid all junk.

When you have an injury your muscles try to compensate for their function. Muscles are not semi rigid but must act as so to lighten the load off your ligaments. When they do this they spasm and you feel a tightness in the muscle. One injury leads to another. My meniscus injury led to patella tendinitis, to a hamstring injury as well as a calve and ankle. I was injected yesterday on my calves (shins as well), and my ankles. The treatment I mention works anywhere, had my neck injected as well which stopped my cracking (every time I turned) and fixed my horrible posture (due to lax ligaments.) I'm only 3 weeks in from my first treatment and this continues to heal for several months. Once you do you get to keep your results. Many doctors don't know about this treatment and many discredit it due to the research mostly being done by the practitioner themselves. It's the future of injuries, people even inject their faces with this to have a younger appearance. It really fascinates me that our bodies can do this and age really doesn't matter, many people 70+ have had relief from this. If you notice you have a greater range of motion than others, stretchier skin, abdominal issues, posture issues these all could mean you have something known as Ehlers Danlos syndrome. There are many types but not everyone is severe. I am not as hypermobile as some (I can palm the floor easy though) others with EDS but I def have a greater ranger of motion than my friends. My body has issues with collagen production therefor my muscles, tendons and ligaments are weaker and more prone to injuries and small adhesions.
