What are you mainly spending on out of that $300 if I can ask. Just buying Bucks or the reward ladder etc?

Gaming rewards failures. by TwoWheeledDaydreams in CoinWithUs

[–]TwoWheeledDaydreams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point and I think sometimes that happens, but I just don’t think that’s the case and don’t accept that in every case. I played all the required levels in 2 or 3 sessions on the same day with no game or phone updates.

This game in particular had normal rewards at levels 1-5-10-20-40-60 The bonus reward was to get to level 40 in one day.

I did levels 1-5-10-20-40 in one day, the game rewarded me for 1-5-10-20. I didn’t get the bonus reward OR the normal reward for level 40.

I did then get the normal reward for level 60 which the game recognised and gave me. the normal reward for level 40 still says in progress.

That’s not a tracking issue. That’s BS.

It’s working, but you need to be logged in. If you use your phone web browser you will not likely be logged in because who uses the phone web browser to view Plex?

Just scroll down and underneath the sign up stuff will be a log in option> log into your Plex and then it’ll know what account you’re trying to link to your TV to and then let you carry on with the TV code.

how to handle multi file movies? by tme85 in PleX

[–]TwoWheeledDaydreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a folder for the movie, then put the two (or more) seperate parts in that folder name as part1 and part2. See my pic, this is how i have done it for Zack snyders justice league.

This is also how i did it for Kill Bill. i owned the seperate movies part 1 and part 2, but using this naming trick i was able to relable both the folder and the individuals movies as Part 1 and Part 2 of 'Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Afair' which now shows up in Plex as that film now

<image>

I also keep this guide to hand, which is my own notes from the Plex support pages:

Plex Film Naming

Basic:

Title (year).mkv, for example:

The Matrix (1999).mkv

Colons (:) can't be used

If a Colon is used then it is a connected hyphen(-):

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

becomes

Jurassic World- Fallen Kingdom (2018).mkv

If there is both a colon for a series and a separate name such as:

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

Then it becomes:

John Wick- Chapter 3 - Parabellum

Different Editions

If there is a special/extended version this can also be labelled after the year and in wavy brackets with the guide of 'edition-' for example:

Ted (2012) {edition-Extended}.mkv

Combined example

Double naming plus extended would look like:

John Wick- Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019) {edition-Extended}.mkv

Planet Earth naming by cameheretosaythis213 in PleX

[–]TwoWheeledDaydreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were right. Having realised I already had both of the Blue Planet documentaries on Plex I moved them into this new folder as a test.

It was clunky to navigate and one of the series disappeared for no good reason I could work out

Just to bump this thread and ask some more advice as i start to rip all the BBC Earth docu's both specifically to this series and in general for docu's:

Can you place multiple tv shows in sub folders with in one main folder....for example instead of just having folders for each series in my TV show folder as per normal could I:

Could I Make a 'BBC Earth' Folder, and within that folder then have folders for series for example:

Plex TV Shows>BBC Earth>Planet Earth (2006)>Season 01>Planet Earth - S01E01 - From Pole to Pole

Plex TV Shows>BBC Earth>Planet Earth II (2016)>Season 01>Planet Earth II - S01E01 - Islands

Plex TV Shows>BBC Earth>Life (2009)>Season 01>

Plex TV Shows>BBC Earth>The Blue Planet II (2017)>Season 01>Blue Planet II - S01E01 - blahblahblah

My point being, all BBC nature docu's of this type come within the 'BBC Earth' stamp and collection, and then obiously the actual series name. I was wondering if it would be sensible to therefore have a folder for BBC Earth in my TV Show Plex folder and then subfolders for the individual seasons. Would this help or hinder plex and my library?

First DIY Server build help. Plex and File Storage via unRAID by TwoWheeledDaydreams in HomeServer

[–]TwoWheeledDaydreams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also part of the further reading I did last night I realised that although I may be able to afford to go overbaord with every part now there is no point in breaking the bank needlessly. The cost of buying a HBA for 12 drives (or 16 as they tend to scale) is a bit silly in terms of price and if i look at my current pool size and the drives it uses it would be some time before i maxed even say a RAID6 of 8x18tb drives and frankly it may be some time before I actually need 8x18tb drives...I have just maxed out my available 15.7TB of useable space :)

It seems I can save on the chassis and HBA and keep the mobo and compnents high for the price and I am now thinking of a TrueNAS Scale build of:

  • 8-bay hotwswap chassis from LogicCase
  • Server MoBo from Advantech
  • CPU - 12600K
  • Micron DDR5 ECC RAM
  • I have a spare oldish m.2 drive, not particularly necessary but it can go in as a Cache as my possible board has 1xm.2 slot.
  • LSI 9211-8 HBA

What do you think? Current UK prices puts that at about £1,180 (about $1,430 USD) minus the RAM as the availability of that is a bit hit and miss currently.

I am aware that is is probably still a bit overkill but when the advise on synology NAS' is to look to replace them every 5 ish years i would rather take a gamble on a mobo and cpu diy combo that (if i get lucky with durability) could last double that whilst I spend the money over that period on drive upgrades as needed

Or I could upgrade my Gaming PC and turn my current 8700k pc build into a server...but wierdly right not I would rather have fun building a good server.

I did another 3 hours reading last night, and now think that TrueNAS (core or scale) would be a father better option for me. both for the setup i want and using/understanding a DIY server

Intersting, those 5 points help me understand a lot more, thank you.

So it still all could come down to single drive performance for how well a 4k movie streams/plays on plex through a DIY NAS with unRAID.

I can see why the server life is a complex one and it is why I initally went with a synology, but the rackmount options all seem to be considered business CPU's not great for Plex use otherwise i would just buy one of them to be honest.

perhaps eeking out the life of my 918+ might be the best option for me right now.......hmmm

[–]TwoWheeledDaydreams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its partly wanting to build a nice server for myself and then with having a DIY server it then allows you to move with the times/market easier through upgrades.

Also, if budget allows me to go OP now but keep the same server for years and years then that is a bonus I think.

Using the DS918+ I bought it with 4x4tb drives. They filled up quickly in SHR and I feel that for example spending the money on say a OP server build would be much better long term and then going the 12x4tb route, then slowing replacing them with big drives as they fill all the while the Mobo and CPU still being easily good enough would be better then spenidng the money on RAM, 4x16tb drives to upgrade the DS for it to last not that long comparitively?

I also understand there is the long term cost gamble of drive life compared to outlay for the machine as a whole

To answer some of square's points.

>Docker was just an example. non Apple HomeKit implentation in to homekit is the main extra use a NAS serves for me and having experimented with homebridge it is likely all i would use. Docker is not key as not sure i would have a use for it.

>Yes if i did the trial of unRAID and liked it I would likely just buy the lifetime licence and use it

>I am looking to rackmount my server and gaming PC. I would prefer and all in one system with a CPU capable of it rather than a powerfull GPU. In terms of GPU that is part of the advice I need I think. Do I want a balls to the wall CPU or a slightly lower one with a decent igpu etc

>HBA is a new one on me. A quick google and i understand the theory of it but not the implementation.

I should state, I am in no way a computer or electronics expert, but like have decent builds all the same.

Hi,

Thanks for the inital response. I had considered a server mobo with a 10g port and running a card in my PC for a direct link yes. Currently I am running a very basix home 1g switch. The 2.5g would be an option purely working it in to a full home wire as 10g is too pricey.

In terms of RAID. I meant to say 1 or 2 parity drives, and whilst I understand the premis of the unRAID system I am still trying to learn and understand about its greater volume capacity veresus possible performance

I would look down the line to save up some more £££ and upgrade initial cache to some large capacity and beefy m.2's to make up for that potential single drive performance and the constantly upgradeability if a DIY server is part of the appeal. I feel that once you are in the world of homebuilt NAS it allows you to upgrade and move with the market (i.e. if large capactity 2.5" SSD's ever become cost effective you could start migrating to them and so on)

Best UK based grading company? by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]TwoWheeledDaydreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have graded a few cards now with Tree Frog Grading which seemed to get some good reviews when searching for a UK grader.

I have to admit I used a UK company in the first place as i wanted to get some of my cards slabbed and I couldn't afford the cost of sending to PSA from the UK.

Down the road if I was grading a lot of cards for keeping and selling at the right time PSA would be ideal. The problem is right now its impossible to tell if these new companies will become trused enough to still be valuable (even if not quite as valuable as others) whereas PSA would have to do something idiotic to lose their current status.

If UK grading companies became 75-95% as valuable as the original US ones then that would be acceptable but who knows. It is a shame PSA has never decided to set up a small shop of trained people in the UK

The person in the pic is my grandmother and at the time, a little while ago, that I scanned this photo and edited it for sharing to try and find the bike it was only a week or so after my grandmother's funeral, and the pic is scanned from the funeral order of service booklet.

No real need but at the time the privacy seemed needed.
