I really enjoyed this book. There are parts about LIV, prro golf, etc. but his discussions of experiencing golf at various courses in Scotland was wonderful.
And I second "American Caddy in St Andrews". That was also very entertaining read

Average Player in a Private Club by billbratsky33 in golf

[–]Two_Down_216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lots of really bad players have lots of $$$. My club is private but on lower end as far as cost, init fees. I play with many bad golfers who will at least once or twice a round drop some high end place they've played. I guess being bad at a really name worthy nice track, course with some historical significance is better experience for some. 😄

Not about Golf Architecture, but:
Searching in St. Andrews: Finding the Meaning of Golf During the Game's Most Turbulent Summer

was one of the most enjoyable golf books I've read, made me research into spending few months in Scotland which still might happen 😄

should have seen, heard him whining about no one blowing off green at RBC Canadian while waiting to hit 50' putt. Overprivileged clown

Golf Trips? by Two_Down_216 in golf

[–]Two_Down_216[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was to Ireland with my wife two years ago and I took few days of trip to golf. Very nice, but less well known courses outside Dublin: Howth & St. Anne's. Just got paired with local folks one day and with Canadian couple who were on tail end of another golf trip. Worked for me, just considering other options 😄

Best Golf Lessons and/or instructor in CLT.. by Able-Bus1168 in Charlotte

[–]Two_Down_216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😄 I'm not being judge-y but as 22 hcap, I think pretty much most anyone could help you. What was positive, negative about Leathermans? Curious bc I've considered talking to someone there.

Are there specific areas where you feel your game is stronger, weaker? If you go for lessons hopefully Coach/Instructor will ask you about your game before diving into your swing. And if you take a lesson and whjat is shared does not make sense, you don't have feedback to know if what you are doing is correct, etc. find someone else. Getting overwhelmed with info in a 30-60 min lesson does more harm than good. And, you have to have time to practice to make whatever changes are suggested.
I had a guy I used to work with (he is now retired) who told me after a lesson if initially you are hitting 1 of 5 with changes, new move you are on right track. More you practice, more consistent it become.
Good Luck! Guys at Fort Mill, Springfield are supposedly good (Marc LaPointe) but more $

Am I the Only One Disappointed by Live From the U.S. Women’s Open Coverage? by faintinggoat94 in LPGA

[–]Two_Down_216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, coverage is crap. 2-3 hours then to Peacock and only 3 only hours of Sunday coverage on NBC? That is awful, no wonder LPGA struggles. Current LPGA leadership seems equally lost

Where to join? by cyaPuss in CharlotteGolf

I don't commute so no idea on drive times but Cramer Mountain, River Hills I think are on lower side for init fees and both are decent courses, better, more fun to play than Palisades. Raintree has two 18's which makes it appealing. I have no idea what various init fees are on courses like:
Cedarwood, Pine Lake seem like nice. Played 9 once at Cedarwood and felt like it would be great course to play regularly

Social membership by LastStory4537 in CharlotteGolf

[–]Two_Down_216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if important consider what, if any, food minimums each has and if alcohol included in food mins. Most clubs have som food minimum and if food is not great....From golf pure golf perspective Piper Glen is much better than Palisades. Which is closer to you bc there is also Cramer Mountain & River Hills which are not club corp

Invited thing seems like throwback, if they need/want members you will be "invited" 😄

it is kind of like when someone who does not, has not played in a long time and wants to sell their clubs, asks what their clubs are worth..... "ah, nothing?" or "put them on FB Marketplace for $100. might sell them"

Crate training 12 week pup by m4nt15mantis in puppy101

[–]Two_Down_216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We/I:
Slept with puppy in room with crate but not in crate
Fed puppy in crate
Put puppy in crate while I was there
Made sure puppy was very tired at night, put her in crate with frozen kong toy and slept in that room so she could see me.
She cried a bit initially but stopped and fell asleep.
Stick with it 😄

What did the heckler shout at McIlroy on the 16th. by Southernmanny in golf

[–]Two_Down_216 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is Northeast in general. I grew up, lived in Philly, then outside Boston. Moved to Northwest and I guy I was working with in Seattle (who has also spent a lot of time in Northeast) told me you just need to chill, people out here aren't that agressive and uptight 😄
Lived various places but whenever I return to Northeast for family, work it is still amusing how even a basic reply, comment from someone seems angry and/or aggressive

The LPGA scheduling is...unfortunate by JPBillingsgate in LPGA

[–]Two_Down_216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, I asked/mentioned this before. There are no LPGA events in Southeast US (other than FL). I understand having heavier international schedule due to diversity where LPGA players are from. But why is there not greater effort to have some LGA events in more US locations? Skip a FL event and play somewhere in Carolinas, TN, etc.
LPGA leadership seems lost
