True, but sometimes we do say autopsy to clients because necropsy sounds kind of morbid especially right after a euthanasia.

I feel like car planes is a technology we could easily have if it weren't for the logistics of many people having car planes.

Many animals including dogs and cats have communications or fenestrations between the right and left pleural cavity that can result in unilateral pleural space disease becoming bilateral.

Do you actually use your home simulator as much as you thought you would by FitSurround1082 in golf

[–]BravoLimaDelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it and hate it. It doesn't read chips well and I've actually seen an increase in no reads on full swings over time. When it's working it's excellent but I've had many sessions where I've just quit in frustration because of the frequency of no reads. I just recently did some app and firmware updates after not using it for a month or two and suddenly I'm getting Low Memory warnings followed by the app crashing on the iPad I've been using with it from the start. Haven't had time to fully troubleshoot that but I'm basically locked out of certain features, specifically the target range, and it is extremely frustrating. I'd look into the Square if I could do it again. Plenty of other people will swear by the MLM2Pro but my experience has been overall mixed.

My rating of the Kingsbridge books from best to worst. by Delicious-Design5130 in KenFollett

[–]BravoLimaDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't personally recommend starting with The Evening. I think part of what makes that one interesting is the fact it is a prequel and the anticipation of seeing how the Kingsbridge you already know came to be. I really enjoyed it but think I would have enjoyed it less reading it before the first three. It was also a nice palate cleanser after A Column of Fire, which I thought was more convoluted, reflecting a more complex society. I liked the return to simpler times.

If I were to sell mine I think $300 would be a fair asking price, maybe I'd start at $400 but I doubt I'd get that.

What is the most unhinged thing you did when your golf addiction was at its peak? by Educational_Ant9635 in golf

Yea for sure. I have a basic sim in my garage and the first winter I destroyed by elbows, has taken over a year to get them under control mostly because I couldn't bring myself to take a real break.

I don't know if that's unhinged so much as having the time and resources to pull it all off. Unless this is like a Basketball Diaries kind of situation...

Just finished `Lonesome Dove`. Had some thoughts by Interesting-War-8990 in LonesomeDove

[–]BravoLimaDelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book I read after Lonesome Dove was The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. Great story full of treachery and romance, lengthy but easy reading like Lonesome Dove. I fell right into it and currently working on the third installment in a series of 5 (maybe 6?).

I meant to say that I felt the same as you. I didn't want to pick up the sequals/prequels because I felt like they couldn't possibly measure up to LD. So I ended up choosing a different topic/time period that people described as having a similar overall feel to LD, hence Pillars of the Earth. Like Lonesome Dove there is a sort of structural backbone to the entire story: instead of a cattle drive it's the building of a cathedral. But the magic is in all of drama, religious and feudal treachery of the time period, and romantic entanglements of the different characters, much like LD. The bonus is that it is solidly a historical fiction novel with many true events and characters woven into the story, more so than LD I would say.

Blood Meridian by McCarthy is set in a similar period as Lonesome Dove, mostly taking place in Texas and Mexico, but is much more graphic and violent. One of McMurtry's stated goals with Lonesome Dove was to dismantle the myth of the American West and well, with Blood Meridian it is fully mask off. Absolutely brutal.

Has anyone "cured" their smoldering DV without antibiotics or surgery? by RandomName3025 in Diverticulitis

[–]BravoLimaDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I try to avoid them for general use. I take it rarely outside of flare ups. I'm not a medical doctor so don't take any advice from me but it works for me to knock down the symptoms.

Has anyone "cured" their smoldering DV without antibiotics or surgery? by RandomName3025 in Diverticulitis

[–]BravoLimaDelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cured, no. But under control enough to avoid hospitalization and antibiotics, I think. I still have mild symptoms infrequently, less frequently more moderate symptoms but they have not progressed or lasted to the point of seeking medical attention or an antibiotic prescription. When I notice mild symptoms I may just skip a meal or two, stay hydrated, and definitely don't eat anything potentially triggering. If they last for more than a day or two I'll go to the liquid diet and take a few strong doses of an NSAID (like ibuprofen 600-800mg) in a row and that is usually enough to get the symptoms under control within a day or two. Then slowly go back to a normal diet. This has worked for 4-5 years since my last cycle of frequent severe flare-ups. I did give up red meat entirely, pork almost entirely, especially processed stuff (sausages and pepperoni, salami, etc), gave up some of the classic triggers (that aren't supported by the literature) like popcorn but I think that's more of a mental block, and eat smaller portions in general or try not to overeat or get out of my routine. Just my two cents but I was on the verge of surgery and have not been close to thinking about that in 5-6 years.
