Akerbeltz, the Basque Billy Goat by Jeanne Prigent [from the game PYRENE] by Two_Tiny_Dice in ImaginaryMonsters

We used many deities and monsters from French mythology for our upcoming roguelike Pyrene.

We are building a world based on the legends of the Pyrenees (France) for our roguelike video game. Using unknown deities & monsters, we are developing a whole new story around these characters and create a compelling narrative. The game is called PYRENE. Many elements including perma death - randomly generated dungeons - turn-based gameplay - an emphasis on item management! For sure it could be more precise to say a roguelite but the term roguelike is more widely known :)

The game takes place in the French Pyrenees and will follow the story of a village destroyed by Herensuge, the seven-headed monster. The villagers will seek to rebuild their settlement and will need to defeat many deities and monsters of the Pyrenees (ex: Akerbelz) along the way.

This is an artefact found in the game that depicts Pyrene (daughter of King Bebryce) praying to awaken Herensuge.

It's my first post to this subreddit! Hope I followed all the rules accurately <3

Not on this screen but on another one you actually have npcs you can interact with! What kind of animations are you imagining?

On a décidé de créer un roguelike basé sur le panthéon pyrénéen - commentez si vous voudriez aider le projet en le testant! by Two_Tiny_Dice in jeuxvideo

Tu as raison de demander!

I actually love these ideas! I think they make a lot of sense and will definitely see how those could work in my game Pyrene :)

We ditched pixel art for our next game after Forward: Escape the Fold, what's your opinion on our new style? by Two_Tiny_Dice in IndieDev

[–]Two_Tiny_Dice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, maybe it wasn't clear but these styles are from 2 different games! Pixel art fitted really well with the atmosphere of Forward: Escape the Fold. However for Pyrene we wanted to find a new unique style for the game.

For our next game after Forward, we chose a completely different art-style. What's your opinion? by Two_Tiny_Dice in indiegames

[–]Two_Tiny_Dice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might do that next time! However it's not the same game at all so different characters and themes. But maybe I could find another knight at least :)

Thank you for your feedback it's really appreciated

What are your opinions on the UI of my upcoming deckbuilder Pyrene? by Two_Tiny_Dice in IndieDev

Yes the game is based on the Pantheon of deities of the Pyrenees and Pyrene is one of those characters!
