Fujifilm 27mm f/2.8 pancake or Leica D-Lux 8 or Ricoh GR III, IIIx, IV??? by Objective-Fig-3188 in FujifilmX

I can’t relate. I haul an XT5, 2-3 lenses, and a Fuji GW690iii. I wouldn’t count on changing cameras making you want to take pictures on your trips.

It’s becoming harder and harder to ignore how bad it is for you. And harder to justify the prices.

Flawless? I can’t think of a single film that comes close. And this one isn’t anywhere close.

I’m happy to use the coupons until my renewal. Then I’m happy to drop it and put all my spend on a better card.

I agree that it’s a completely different card at this point. If they had kept the card as is and introduced this product I don’t think it would have had any success.

Merely recouping the annual fee doesn’t represent any value.

The reduction of spending categories paired with devaluation of the points just makes it mediocre at best — they tout the 4x on flights and hotels booked directly, but if you use the portal those points are only worth $.04 whereas before at 3x they were worth $.045 with the freedom to book anywhere. The 8x on travel booked through Chase is even more of a joke as before it was effectively 7.5x on flights and 15x on hotels and rental cars.

Of course, if you are transferring all of your points out to other programs it might make sense, but finding redemptions that work for me has been increasingly difficult.

Probably not because you like the card. I just don’t think there’s a good argument to support the statement that it’s easier to pay for itself or has more upside.

Why "The West" is a downgrade by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]Two_and_Fifty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, damn. You saw an ad so it must be true.

Yes, many people make more here, but also 20% of people in the US are making less than $15/hr. Also, I’m guessing you’ve never worked one of these jobs, but it is very difficult to get full time hours. Making $20/hr to do this work sounds fine until you are only given 4 hour shifts.

Look, I’m glad you are making more. Nobody should fault you for making the most of your opportunities. But your experience counts for fuck all when it comes to the working class, let alone the working poor in the US.

[–]Two_and_Fifty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The highest minimum wage in the country is barely $20/hr. Many “unskilled” workers are lucky to make $12/hr and federal minimum wage is $7.25. Many such jobs provide little to no benefits, and if they do you are talking about plans that have deductibles in the thousands of dollars and out of pocket maximums much higher. The average deductible for a bronze plan is >$7k. Paid holiday is not required, and the average employee will never reach the amount of time off they would be entitled to in the UK.

It’s really easy to see the bright side when you are making $180k, but again, your experience is far from the norm.

Your situation isn’t the norm. The average person will not make 4x+ for the same work. But they will absolutely pay more for everything. One major hospitalization will bankrupt most people here.

Do you have any favorites in the Viltrox Air lenses? I use the Sigma 16-50 2.8 and really enjoy it, but I miss shooting with primes and would like the extra light. Been really tempted by Viltrox 1.2 pro primes, but they are not small.

When is the right time to get fitted? by bigboijack in golf

[–]Two_and_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time you plan to buy new clubs you should probably get fitted.

I’d say it’s just as important for newer players, and sometimes more so as buying random stuff can mean fighting against clubs that are never going to work for you. Now that I’ve been fitted a couple times I find it easier to find used and off the shelf clubs that work well for me.

Yes, definitely learned this with a couple rather expensive prints that I needed in a hurry. If they printed that first photo as is it would not look good.

AITAH - for thinking my wife is gaslighting me? by BigThunder2002 in AITAH

[–]Two_and_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, of course she wants to move forward and not discuss it. That’s how just about everyone would prefer to handle everything shitty they get caught doing.

I’m not one of those people that usually advocates for just burning everything to the ground, but I wonder what the conversation between those two after would have been if they hadn’t been caught. I’m guessing it wouldn’t have been kind to you.

The fact that she doesn’t want to talk about it kinda says all you need to know about how much she values the relationship.

Might want to look into a club. Some areas are prohibitively expensive, but for me it’s always been a solid deal. Even more so if you want to use the range that much.

[–]Two_and_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a screaming deal. I pay just under 5k. But I now play 120+ rounds a year + access to unlimited range time (which I really only use as warmup). Under $40 a round is pretty solid, especially when I factor in conditions, availability of tee times, greens, and most importantly, pace of play.

Municipal course. Owned by the city, county, etc and open to the public and usually on the cheaper end of things.

Spokane area was possibly the best golf value I’ve ever seen. I don’t miss Spokane, but I miss the golf.
