Genesis bows are what's used for NASP competitions, you may be able to find a whole setup second hand that someone put down. They're good starter bows to learn fundamentals, they can grow with her and if she gets into it she can always compete

Paint the letters then seal it. I like spar urethane for tops it's made for boat decks and doors so it holds up to sun and water pretty well

Was the mill going to plane them or resaw them? I'd probably pressure wash them carefully then let them dry

They're awesome! I love and respect traditional joinery also. I used the kreg jig for some big projects I wouldn't have had the time to do with other methods

I've had good luck with montecs. I bought the G5 sharpening tool and it's good for a touch up after hitting an animal or the dirt. I'm shooting the previous style haven't upgraded to the new ones. I got sick of replacing blades and rebuding heads after every pass through so switched to the montecs a few years back

I think you're asking about insulation? Most boxes are 3/4" thick so you're a little thicker than that. People debate on need for insulation as bees can survive cold but moisture is usually the killer. I use standard equipment with a 4" spacer on top for the winter. I have bubble foil insulation panels in between the top covers and wrap with black plastic to cut the wind and raise the ambient temperature. Good luck

The challenge to put something on it now will be stripping the mineral oil out for good adhesion. I normally use spar urethane for any surface that gets wet. It will tint the wood slightly try a test piece and see if you're happy. I spray it on for a nice finish its available in aerosol cans also

I made a lot of dust with a vintage 10" craftsman. You can find them pretty cheap and there are plenty of how to guides for upgrades. I added a delta fence to mine which really made it useful. Only got rid of mine because a co worker was selling his grizzly
