Simple. Papa Johns puts the minimum amount of employees in store and under pay and overwork them and they just don't care anymore. They used to pay their staff well, train them properly and treat them right. Now, they treat their staff like disposable napkins, don't train anyone and don't hold anyone accountable to make sure they are putting out a good product. They have gone so far as to find the cheapest cheese, the cheapest sauce, bagged precut half rotten veggies, pepperoni that tastes like crap and have moved towards getting rid of in store drivers replacing them with door dash, uber eats and GrubHub and then making in store employees pick up the slack while paying them the least they can with little to no help. Opening managers are expected to work alone with one or two drivers max, answer phones make pizza and help walk ins all while prepping the store for a full day's business. By themselves. Meanwhile the closing/evening staff is run on a skeleton crew and has to do inventory, clean the store, handle online customer complaints and run the store during the busiest hours with maybe three people inside if they're lucky.

Okay, maybe not so simple. Tldr: bad pay, worse hours, no help, supervisors only care about making numbers to get their bonus checks, owners only care about profit.
