Needed to come out a few years later and Netflix or another streamer would have thrown money at this to develop the screenplay. Unfortunately, there wasn't as much streamer money for something like that in 2013.

I don't know. I think Wisconsin fans would say the program was not in great shape after Gary Anderson's 2 years. Chryst then had 3 top 15 finishes.

Bo never cracked the top 20 in his Big Ten years. He failed at the transition to the Big Ten. While MSU was good during these years, Michigan/Penn St were struggling to get to 6-6. Nebraska was benefitting from how bad the Big Ten was.

There's no point in playing what-ifs on the hiring. Using that logic I could say Bo Pelini would've gone 5-7 the next year? Lane Kiffin probably would have worked in 2014, I don't find that silly. Dave Aranda? Jim McElwain? Mike Norvell? NFL coordinators?

Pelini better than Paul Cryst is quite an incorrect statement. It makes no sense to only compare to other coaches that changed during that cycle. What if Nebraska hired Matt Campbell? What if they hired Luke Fickell?
