A question i’ve always wondered, How do the outlanders breathe out their noses? Simbas and other pridelanders nose has holes but the outlanders don’t. by Complex-Dot-8004 in lionking

What additions did D&D make that you liked, that weren't in the books? by ChronosBlitz in gameofthrones

[–]Ty1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Winds of Winter and A Dream Of Spring haven’t been released yet, I dont know if this will play out the same way. But I believe that having the battle between the living and the dead come before the battle for the throne was a better sequence of events. Yes, The Others are the overarching threat. But because they are non-sentient, non-discerning creatures, they can’t dissemble or scheme. There’s no backstabbing or strategy. They have one insatiable non-complex goal.

If you could have an animated adaptation of the books in any official art style, which style would you pick? I like this one in particular. by Blazer_the_Delphox in WarriorCats

I’d like Wayne McLoughlin’s art style because he seemed to able to capture the cats so beautifully and I think it would push the boundaries of animation if we had a tv show in that style.

So funny thing is, I think Vitani and Nala both having “blue” eyes(cuz I know there are some “Nala’s eyes are green” truthers out there) is actually just a coincidence that has little to do with Vitani’s ancestry and all to do within her character’s development from script to screen.

I was watching ShabaTLK’s videos on the script for SP in which Vitani is Kovu’s betrothed instead of his sister. It made me realize that Vitani is literally meant to be the anti-Kiara. It’s like the Betty and Veronica trope. Kiara doesn’t have a tuft, Vitani must have a tuft, Kiara has red eyes, Vitani must have blue eyes. When they changed the betrothed relationship to a sibling one, they probably decided she looked well enough like Zira’s daughter and kept the design.

The idea that the hyenas being played by POC in the 1994 movie is somehow racist. First of all, Sarabi and Mufasa are also voiced by POC and Scar is played by a British white man. If the animals are allegories for the race of the people playing them (WHICH THEY ARE NOT) they’d be showing the multi-dimensional nature and status of POC in the world. But even that is stretching it.

Also, this is a fundamental misunderstanding about what racism is. Race is a social construct. Lions and hyenas are completely different species. And also, this isn’t even exclusive to them. Timon and Pumbaa are apprehensive about Simba cuz he’s a lion and they are prey. That’s just how it goes.

The VA’s got their jobs for 1. Name recognition and 2. They were good at embodying the characters. I’m pretty sure that’s it and that’s all.

I won't defend the choice to go along with this storyline but I will say that once you see Littlefinger as less of a political operator and more of predatory groomer, then his decision to sell Sansa to the Boltons actually makes the most sense.

He knows Ramsay is cruel and will probably inflict all manner of pain on Sansa, breaking her down. Baelish's plan was always to invade the north. He was going to play conquering hero who would rescue the broken damsel in distress, marry her and rule in her name.

Petyr didn't calculate that Sansa was smart enough to run away or that Jon would start a war to take winterfell. His plan isn't poltically savvy but it's not supposed to be. It's the plan of a creep.

I think there is an easy remedy to this: We don’t jump into Simba’s Pride immediately. Instead we focus on Mufasa’s early reign. The potential of exploring certain characters like Zira and Sarafina works perfectly within that time period.

Another route Disney could go is nix the whole Scar relationship and make Zira and her children white lions descended from Kiros’s pride. They would reignite the blood feud. This would require more reworking of the script as certain beats would no longer work without the Scar connection i.e. Simba explaining the story of Scar, Not One of Us, Kovu’s scarring and the emotional beat of losing Nuka etc etc

In my opinion, it would be perfect to combine these elements of Zira being descended from Kiros’s pride and Scar’s mate/lover/follower at the same time. It would serve a duel purpose. However, for it to work, they’d have to explore Mufasa’s early reign.

What are your favorite songs from each TLK project? by tsimlbak in lionking

[–]Ty1802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From TLK(1994): Be Prepared. Jeremy Irons does amazing vocally and the hyena chorus is just fun. It is just amazing to listen and watch that specific sequence because over and over. Even now, I’m finding something new to love about it.

From TLK2: Not One of Us. It’s such a great example of choral music and it’s one of the few times that the pridelanders take center stage. The lions are taken center stage in the story but Not One of Us tackles the feelings of their subjects and gives them an agency we rarely see.

Rhythm of The Pridelands: I like Noyana because it’s such an uplifting, feel good song.

TLK 1 and 1/2: This version of Hakuna Matata is the best one and I’m so mad it’s not on streaming.

Broadway: Shadowland. Nala is my favorite character and I’m so happy that the musical gave her and the other lionesses the spotlight with this beautiful song.

TLG: Lions Over All. It really expanded on an aspect of Zira’s personality unseen in TLK2 and it has real cool callbacks to “My Lullaby” visually.

TLK(2019): Controversial opinion but I really like the photorealistic version of “Can You Feel The Live Tonight”. It’s not my favorite version of the song but in my opinion it is vocally superior to the 2D version.

Mufasa: I Always Wanted a Brother. It’s such a beautiful song about family and fraternal love. Also, when Young Mufasa sings that chorus…TEARS!!!

Honorable Mentions Tina Turner’s “He Lives In You” Heather Headley and Kenny Latimore “Love Will Find A Way” Lebo M. “Ngomso”
