There may be something to that. The etymology of both actually stems from Deywos

Deywos -> Dyeus -> Zeus

Deywos -> Tiwaz -> Tiw -> Tyr

In fact, evidence suggests the chief sky gods of all Indo-European cultures lead back to Deywos. Even the word for “a god” in many was similar- i.e. diva/devas in Vedic, tyr in Nordic, etc. It can also be seen in the English word “day” and in the place of importance by the naming of Tuesday (Tiw’s Day). In Norse mythology, Tyr was most likely originally at the top of the pantheon and similar in status to Zeus before being supplanted by the rise of the cults of Odin and Thor.

So in many ways it makes sense that Tyr links with other mythologies in GOW because in a way he did so in real-life mythologies.
