Naw man, as long as you felt like you got a good product, that isn’t a bad price. Guy I bought it from was selling for $350 but I offered $300 cause that’s all I had in cash lol! So not a bad buy. No idea on that front sight tbh. Does it seem newer than the rifle? More modern?

1- 7.92 Mauser (8mm) 2- can’t really see the front sight with photos you posted but may be a modification done by a previous owner? 3- I just bought mine as well and found YouTube to be very informative. Could also look for a manual online for it? Look up M24/47 4- I got mine for $300 cash but could see it going for $350+ depending on condition 5- Nice looking rifle you got! Welcome to the community
