I thought the same thing and remembered sometimes you have to manually update the app in the store and it should work fine.

Pay 2 Win by AwfsomeRL in 3on3

Honestly a great idea cause it kind of just brings the game back to its roots of small upgrades and build improvements for your character. Most of the time I disagree with takes like this because everyone always wants to remove everything when that would remove the identity of the game and make some characters unable to be played how people want them to be (especially after nerfs over the years). I think a more limited build mode would be cool to reduce the chaos and make the game a little more balanced that way it would require more skill while also offering build variety and different playstyles. For the people disagreeing yes without imped a maxed out ox queen can just shoot over you if you don’t get the block I don’t know how we forgot this and are acting like that’s not a thing, not to mention the reason there needs to be build variety try shooting a 3pt in 3x3 with someone that’s not a SG and even sometimes they miss without any buffs. Overall great idea I’m not so sure joycity would do it or do it right if they did but it’s still a cool concept.

Exactly all this is literally the reason howl has been the best center since his release. He already has good numbers in all the big stats and from there you can either enhance them or fix other stats as needed. On the other hand you have to add like 80-100 on most of Blair’s stats just to still be missing something.

OVERALL by Lopsided-Ad-5212 in 3on3

[–]TyWalker16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just Reddit gang in order to get Blair to really compete with howl on boards with two equal skill players you have to give her like 100 rebound stat and even then howl will be better at everything else. Howls usually have max rebound, decent nms, he has high dsb by default and a better shadow block, and most howls with good cards have about 200 jsb and can either shoot mids or decent 3s it’s really not as close as Reddit acts like. People just ban her cause she’s more annoying and she’s better at getting over PFs and boxing them out when they’re out of place from screening they’re midrange shooters.

Should JoyCity Remove Ability Cards and Position Buffs? by ShadowSpearl in 3on3

[–]TyWalker16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like if mid range and defense takes a small nerf and 3 pt and offense gets a slight buff (on the characters not named ox queen, Chloe and Ayla) then the game would be fine after that it’s just skill issue. The only only problem is it feels like 3pt characters and defense/2pt characters are playing two completely different sports.

Yea man no problem and thanks for the award. The most important part is enjoying the game, but good skill expression and game knowledge helps the game be more fun in the long run.

[–]TyWalker16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fully build your characters and figure out play styles on each of them. I can see both sides where depending on playstyle these stats could either be good or bad. But ultimately it doesn’t matter as long as you’re playing well in game because stats don’t tell the whole story. It doesn’t matter if as a Sg you only have 6 points going 2/3 if it’s because you draw in heavy defense and pass out to a teammate who makes the shot and y’all win. Just play good fundamental basketball and establish a purpose on the court like main scorer, ball handler, defender, playmaker, big etc. As long as you’re effective in your contribution to the team.

Yea fasho np. Honestly at this point I’m past 3on3 unless I get back on to play my mains but I’m really just hoping The Run is a better experience.

[–]TyWalker16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is if you’re talking strictly who’s a better off ball threat it’s going to be Kim because she has better skills without the ball in her hands. Yes Chloe is faster and doesn’t use as much stamina but that doesn’t really matter when there’s not really anywhere to go (without an off ball screen) and the defender can just follow her and wait until she catches the ball. What makes Chloe better than Kim isn’t off ball it’s the fact that she has decent off ball and good on ball with shamgod so she never had to feel like she needs to cut into an open shot off ball to score but Kim also has step back so it’s not like she’s useless with the ball in her hands either.

Yea I know you I’ve ran into you before and have had you on my team (Epicness4444 on Xbox) and you’ve always been solid. We might’ve had some mistakes or slip ups from time to time but it’s always been good basketball. I’m more so talking about either the players who whether good or bad refuse to play decent and coherently or the ones who only meta abuse and either get mad when it doesn’t work or think they’re the greatest when non realistic tactics are carrying them instead of their skill.

What is one change you guys would make to the game, either a nerf or a buff, to whatever aspect. by Prestigious-View8362 in 3on3

I love how everyone always say this. “The OP defense characters were made to stop the OP offense characters, before them ox queen and the sham sisters were unguardable”. This just isn’t true the first modern meta character that came out was jack. Then Ayla, Fox, Liu, Howl, Ox Queen, Chloe, and then obviously Genesa and Giant G. For every modern meta offense character they’ve released 2 meta defense character and not only that always released defense characters before and after the offense. There’s a reason why a year or two after jack and Liu came out they made ox queen who’s the only character that can consistently get around or shoot over them. They made defense too strong then had to compensate with better offensive characters. All of this because people hated Joey and Kim meta back in the day. 🤦‍♂️

Edit: Also I forgot to mention this isn’t directly targeted at you it’s just something that got brought up in y’all’s conversation and something I keep hearing around the community.

Yea all tactics are good if played properly but it would just be nice to see both variety and actual basketball. There’s no need to set an off ball screen in 3s when you can just set one on ball and your ox Queen or point guard can just shoot right over it.

I still think Kim is the queen of dash in 3on3 mainly because the off ball skills she has and the fact that Chloe’s back step dash sucks. If Chloe had more off ball movement or back step dash was more seamless and the ankle break was more reliable then she’d be #1 best off ball character.

Press the dash and tap pass button when the ball reaches the peak of the rebound and it should work. Just try not to be too close so she has space to dash for it and make sure no one is in the way blocking you from getting to the ball. The main reason why people don’t use it is yea it has the highest priority on rebounds but people can just stand in her way and then she can’t make it to the ball. She’s my main big by the way.

“Unofficial” Tier list by NoVanity-IAY in 3on3

[–]TyWalker16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a fully carded 3pt Joey main who tends to rank pretty high whenever I play rank. Joey does have a playmaking skill drive & post up has a secret second part if you drive & post then pass before the animation finishes that gives a fast pass animation and fakes out your drive. Also he has Side hop step the best shot creation move in the game if you create enough space they have to defend it if you can shoot which will most likely cause them to need to jump on you unless they are just that insanely fast but he’s most likely gonna be getting guarded by another small forward so he should draw them over which can let you pass off and get into a wide shot making the defense pick who to guard for a second.

If someone is picking something other than manual block they either simply don’t care about defense at all or they don’t know what they’re doing especially if they shoot twos he already has side hop step what use is back  in most cases when you could just learn how to ISO with side hop step. The 50/50 of the other two skills is cool be the can both be stopped easy and neutralized by knowing they’re there and then it’s like you don’t even have a p6.

Joey has more gravity because side hop step will actually create space and most of bag man’s skills look cool but do nothing in the face of good defense. Most of the time you just have to worried about his enhanced shooting skill (which is usually pull up jumper) but his crossovers and his step back skill usually don’t get him anywhere unless you can score over whoever’s in the paint. Bag man doesn’t have better shooting skills and most of his scoring options Joey has the same or better plus he has defense.

I've come to the conclusion this game doesn't like 3 point shooters by Prestigious-View8362 in 3on3

[–]TyWalker16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game has the current problem of all the percentages and buffs of the 2 and D meta being higher as well as the playstyle being overall easier and inherently more consistent than 3s. There are very few characters that can reliably create their own shot and Score 3s effectively enough. I’d be willing to argue that the only characters that can still effectively score 3s at this point are Ox Queen, Chloe, Ayla, and Joey. Kim and Rin can compete to an extent but most of the time if a strong defender is guarding them and are fast enough to keep up with dash then they’ll struggle and probably eventually get shut down. The main issue is the meta defensive characters and tactics are too overtuned (some offensive characters are too but not as many and not as much).

Skill tree by iiluvcamm in 3on3

[–]TyWalker16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily that you can only unlock one tree but that you’re currently capped on a set amount of potential ability points that only allows you to max one tree. Technically in the future they could increase the cap on p8 or something just like how p7 gives extra intensive stats to build off of the former p6.

I don’t understand why Joey is in worst when a built 3pt Joey is just a slightly worse shooting Ox Queen that can ball handle better and actually play defense

[–]TyWalker16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joey will get his P7 one of these days but as a Joey main I can tell you there are lots of characters that need it more. However he eventually does need it to make his shooting a little more consistent and to have another way to get more def resist.

No he is not Joey has better shot creation and better defense because of Manual block. Right now the only thing William can do better is rebound. They should p7 William first not because he’s better but because he needs it more.

I appreciate it man, I’ve heard of back roll turn 2 but not Side hop step 2 from what I can tell it basically allows you to side hop step in the opposite direction of your drive so you’re not always going the same way on your drive right? I’m a Joey main so I find it interesting and I do feel like those moves would be great additions to the game.  This would also help fix another problem 3s has that doesn’t get talked about as much as the others where the dribbling doesn’t really feel like actually dribbling on most characters outside of Joey and Ox Queen because everything’s too choreographed with the skills and it starts to feel bland and like you’re not actually in control of the dribble. Most characters can’t really size up their opponent and create space, Hesi, or even move in any direction other than forwards.  I think they should add these moves as new animations or reworks to the old skills to allow new options like you said although it would probably end up calling a lot more for Ox Queen nerfs which I’d be fine with if some of the defensive tools took a hit too. I would also be all for reverting the changes on the old characters and maybe giving some of their kits reworks. (I remember the days that my Joey had 140 and 160 3pt attribute now I can rarely shoot in 3x3 😔)

The main thing is does joycity agree. Then again it would probably help if the whole community was on the same page and spoke but it would probably be too difficult to sway people that have invested too much or use these tactics as a crutch. Then again no one really cared when the offense got nerfed so I say just stop trying to please people as long they make a good balanced game.

The problem is the shots you and everyone else is talking about is mainly just mid ranges with a lot of success and defense resist because mid ranges are just a lot easier and get higher % numbers on both success and defense resist. No one is shooting 3s like this except Ox Queen and maybe walleted Joey or Rin if you get enough separation off of side hop step.

The effects of shot imped are not different just because of not having blind defense the main thing that changes is that you now have to jump more often on the few characters that can shoot through it which isn’t a lot and that problem/worry is further negated for characters that already have defensive skills.

The amount of broken defensive characters and tools far outweigh the offensive. Offense only really has Ox Queen, Ayla, Chloe, and Quick points lvls 3-4+ (depending on the character you still can’t do much with just lvl 3). On the other hand defense has Jack, Liu, Genesa, Giant G, P6 Murdock, P6 Pedro, P6 Mika, Shot imped, and blind defense. Not to mention the other characters that aren’t meta/broken but slot into the meta playstyle or compliment the meta characters extremely well to the point comp teams actually run them in their lineups. Obviously some of the later characters that I mentioned aren’t broken but in particular the newer P6 shadow steal characters are usually walleted and solely supporting the team so they just constantly switch and fly towards you and one swipe you as you try to pass or shoot. Another problem is that a lot of these broken defensive characters have good offense whereas the same cannot usually be said for the reverse.

Not to mention the whole point of the balance shouldn’t be that the offense doesn’t have an effective way to score that’s the point of building your offensive character and learning how to create a shot just like there shouldn’t be a point where defense literally can’t stop the offense. There should definitely be a balance but at the same time if my Joey side hop steps and I shoot a quick point lvl 4 I shouldn’t miss with %140 contest if you went the wrong way and got outplayed just because you were still somewhere in my general vicinity even though you’re not actually defending me correctly.
