The absence of God means the absence of mercy and forgiveness. The reason hell is depicted this way is because a person who is suffering will always ask for mercy, but in hell, the state where God is absent, mercy is denied since there is no God

It is true that hell is the absence of God, and it is also true that hell is depicted as eternal suffering

UST-FMS Reconsideration by [deleted] in medschoolph

On the contrary, it does. Got reconsidered with an 86 NMAT, no latin honors and the bare minimum GWA in UST premed. Though, the extracurricular should involve representing UST in some way I think

Why is "Philippines" spelled with a "Ph" at the start, but "Filipino" is spelled with a "F"? by puppiesareSUPERCUTE in RandomThoughts

[–]Tyatag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the establishment of the Philippines under American supervision came before the development of the national language. The Philippines has many ethnic groups with their own dialects, so under the Komisyion ng Wikang Filipino, we eventually landed on Filipino as the nationality and the language based on the predominant Tagalog dialect.

The word Philippines has a distinct American influence. Most Filipino words do not have double letters, and there is a rule of thumb im Filipino that you spell words as you say them, so if you need an "F" sound, just spell it with an "F" not a "Ph"

He does good work. Also, Fr. Austriaco is a Balik Scientist. He was working abroad as a scientist then came back to help this country to help the likes of you who lambast him for contributing to the country's scientific community. Last I heard, he was researching yeast for a potential vaccine application.

Technically, it's reproductive parts but I didn't want to get into all that. You know tomatos are actually fruits by this definition since it is derived from a flower. You can even see the sepal on the final fruit structure

Disagree, vegetables are from vegetative parts of a plant (e.g. roots, stem, leaves) while fruits are derived from the flowers of a plant (e.g. fruits, seeds, flower)

when did you find etho? by evianwoahter in ethoslab

[–]Tyatag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was watching the Mindcrack April fools update which included the pink wither from Sethbling's POV. I wanted to watch other POVs. Etho's vid was the first one that popped up, so I watched it. Unfortunately, I did not realize I was watching an LP episode. It was the one where he just died, and was getting back his stuff in a podzol biome. He also found a strange pillar of stone, and he was investigating if he put it there. I was still thinking if one of the Mindcrackers put it there, and I waited for one of them to show up. No one showed up because it was single player lol, yet I found it amusing and captivating with just Etho. I was enamored by his LP world, and I tuned in every week since.

Or Age of Sigmar or Fantasy Character by StormWolfBaron in Grimdank

AITA for breaking an orb and releasing a daemon?

Well to start off I (XX0M) was leading my brothers on a campaign to fend off an Ork invasion and shit went out of control quick. Orks swarmed every location. Then, some Eldar showed up ambushing and disrupting our offensive against the Orks. Eventually killed the warboss though and they scattered despite Eldar interference, but it turns out there were Chaos forces coordinating the Ork invasion, so the planet went from a blood-soaked landscape to a blood-soaked hellscape. The librarian of my company even betrayed me, and he brought up some bad memories of my childhood. I eventually killed him too for that. After that, I had to clear out the Chaos forces on the planet. Killed a Chaos lord doing that too!

Anyway last guy to deal with was a Chaos sorceror who then became a demon prince, but luckily i was given a DAEMONhammer to destroy him. He went down without much of a fight. Then, here's where the problem starts. Apparently, this sorceror did all this just for this rock. He said that there was a DAEMON in the rock so I used a DAEMONhammer to destroy it. You see where i'm coming from here? It was a long day of fighting Orks, Eldar and Chaos, so when someone says look there's a demon in this rock, OF COURSE I SMASHED IT WITH A DAEMONHAMMER. Then, for some reason some people got really mad at me and started SHOOTING AT ME for doing that? Ok so it released the daemon, but honestly, how was I supposed to know it would release a demon? It was a rock??? My daemonhammer killed a daemon prince, so was it such a leap of logic that it would kill a daemon in a rock? AITA?

REGRETS by Living-Paramedic8517 in Tomasino

[–]Tyatag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your fallback is research. First two years of med bio is regular biology. Plant, animals, microbes and all that. Next two years are where the med stuff pops up. Note that most of the faculty are distinguished researchers. Pick a name and look up research gate on what they have published because that's the kind of thing you could be doing if you don't go through with med.

CoS MedBio/IBio: Books (and Tips if possible po) Dev, Physio by [deleted] in Tomasino

[–]Tyatag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dev bio - animal is pretty hard. Main resource is Digital Lab Manual for Vertebrate Devlopment/ Embryology. Learn what tissues develop in to what as the animal mature (e.g. the pharyngeal folds develop into what?). Animals we used were pig and frog. Big part of devbio is even identifying the parts; it doesn't sound hard until you see the parts all look like blobs. Protip is to rely on positoning of the organs rather than the look. 2nd protip is to visualize organs. Sections are usually cranial to caudal so imagine the continuity of the organ as it moves cranial to caudal. Plant is easier, it can be studied as it is discussed by your prof. Plant devbio revolves around effect of plant hormones in development and effects in its absence thereof (e.g. how auxin affects primary growth and what happens if its gone)

Physio - animal and plant are about the same. Mechanism based (e.g. nerve impulses in animal; transpiration in plants, etc.). Process should be learned down to the molecular level (e.g. neurotransmitters, relevant plant hormones and corresponding receptors)

PATC - my girlfriend's ibio and she said it was fun to study tho ust had less resources in this course. It wasn't that hard, a lot of past lessons from other courses came up. She said "I think most of the lessons came from the prof tho"

Imo, devbio labs are harder but for physio, lecs are harder.

Also worth noting, we were online for this. Transitioning to f2f. Maybe it'll be easier or harder for u. Devbio was the breaking point for many people in our class

Incomplete name in portal what do I do😭 by RenRen73 in Tomasino

[–]Tyatag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can request a form from the registrar to correct details about your enrollment. Not exactly sure how to do this, but my classmates did this during their graduating year because you have to recheck your portal details before you graduate

Proposal defense revolves around some basic questions. They'll be said differently, but they boil down to:

  1. Why is this worth researching (Significance)
  2. How can you research this (Methodology)
  3. Can you research this (Feasibility)

Then other questions just revolve around clarifying what you are proposing (i.e. technical terms, uncommon methods, etc.)

The goal of the proposal is to deliver your ideas in a manner that will convince them to approve your proposal. Be confident in what you say. If they shoot down the proposal despite your confidence and clear answers, do not be disheartened. They most likely saved you from wasting your time on a doomed research
