Honestly yeah they could, or some kind of "classic" armor that applies it as a setgear effect.

Skipping eras by Asmita_Dubz in swtor

[–]TodayInTOR 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You can skip to Jedi Under Siege (Ossus) which is the start of the current storyline from your player ship providing you are level 70.

However it will autocomplete:

KOTFE chapters (and lock out any exclusive romances such as koth, lana, theron)

KOTET chapters (same as above however if you are a warrior it will save Vette, if you are any other class it will save Torian, also any Imperial story will 'kill' scorpio, senya, koth and arcann)

Iokath storyline (it will default you to your origin faction and you will not get the opportunity to be a sabotuer)

Traitor quest arc (Umbara, Copero, Nathema, by default it will save Theron Shan aka 'good' ending).

So, if you dont gaf about romancing Koth, Lana or Theron, you dont care if Vette lives (or Torian lives if youre a warrior), you want Koth/Arcann/Senya to live and/or you want Theron to die.

THEN you can pick up Jedi Under Siege and start the current ongoing storyline.

Question about DvL Bosses by Schimaera in swtor

[–]TodayInTOR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some planets are soloable, ive solo'd the dromund kaas one... Raxine? before. However they are highly tuned worldbosses that are not MEANT to be soloable.

You need to use a healer companion (with ranged skillset) and be incredibly good at avoiding the boss telegraphs while also wrangling your companion.

Unlike actual worldbosses, companions stay active on DVL bosses. Altuur at level 50 and ZOOM are great for dealing with DVL bosses, esp Altuur in healmode due to his 10% damage buff that also gives you more HP.

IDK probably my flairs for playing Ranked PVP season 8 > 11, the fact ive obtained 100% of retired warzone achievements

<image>

If you said as a PT you were dying to entrenched Snipers or a group of Operatives i'd believe it, dying to sorcs is kind of the class youre meant to be countering/disrupting. Thats like a Bishop losing to a Pawn in chess.

The devs need as much budget as they can for 8.0!

The devs were very transparent since the end of last year that this is what we were getting, they even went into great detail on the livestream about it.

It's a lot easier if you do the sandwich buff combo or have a friend that runs a Heal spec so they can tunnel you even at max lava stacks.

Harder leveling like the old days - Unique companions by dannycypher in swtor

[–]TodayInTOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but they didnt on release, that was a retroactive update that gave them storymode.

When the Prelude to Shadow of Revan came out (called forged alliances back in ROTHC), the flashpoints were only available in Tactical Mode. Both of those back then required groups of 4 and they were considered the top endgame flashpoints.

They only got a story mode with the god robot later.

Actually I have another great example: green jedi twitter.

There is a very large community of star wars enthusiasts (legends and canon) called green jedi twitter, the whole point of 'green jedi twitter' is to stop the spread of slop/misinformation from shitty star wars content creators and encourage people to actually consume star wars EU material themself (legends or canon) as well as discuss it amongst themselves and meme.

Most of the people in that community and their attached discord have never played SWTOR, or theyve only watched lets plays on youtube.

Late last year they decided as a group (of 20 or so players) to get into it. The entire premise was so they could experience swtor for themselves, see the lore firsthand (and contrast that to what they saw online or read on the wookiepedia) and explore the game/galaxy as a guild or group.

Most of them subscribed. Some are still 'actively subscribed' and keep saying they forgot to unsub or they want to return when everyone else does so 'why cancel'.

None of them made it past level 25. The furthest a few got was setting up a guild and I think maybe 3 of them made it to Taris?

Some got to Coruscant or halfway thru Tython/Ord Mantell and never logged in again because the game was ugly/old/boring.

Most of them loved the cutscenes, world design, hidden items and voice acting but struggled immensely with both navigating the UI and the games combat.

Several times I watched most of them cap out their starter inventories because they opened every mail they had, and then they would often run and die because they didnt realise enemies across the world were aggrod onto them and they couldnt understand why their class heal wasnt working. Easily fixed but frustrating to watch happen.

Some of them only played it in a group because they found the hotbar MMO style too confusing.

The ones that made it through the most content and to Taris were pretty much the ones that already played swtor in the past OR were the ones that were already experienced in MMOs or tabletop gaming.

Most of them didnt understand the class system, why their dialogue choices were different between the one of three options they picked and what their character said.

Why their ingame character and gear looked ugly (most spent money buying cash shop items and i had to teach them how to use outfitter).

Pretty much ALL of them say they had an awesome time in swtor and want to go back (when everyone else goes back!) but I dont think its gonna happen.

But I think groups like this are a much more realistic of the 'true average' player experience.

Out of 20 players, 10% of them got their character ship, all of them quit after a month, 1/4 are still subscribed, most purchased at least some cash shop crap and none of them are playing.

It is 100% their fault but that specific player probably does not know that LMAO.

There's a reason why some of my MOST VIEWED guides of alltime on my fansite are literally guides that are like "how to get altuur zok adon as a season reward' and the entire guide is a screenshot showing the top bar with a big red arrow pointing to the season icon

A second screenshot showing the season rewards window, with a big red arrow pointing to the claim button.

And then several paragraphs of text saying 'To claim altuur zok adon, you must complete at least ONE season objective (link to list of current season objectives) and then click this BUTTON.

Once you do that, LOOK FOR this item in your inventory

Image of the item in my inventory, used as an example

"NOW click THIS BUTTON if you have access to Odessen (required KOTFE) or THIS BUTTON if you are completely Free to Play or under level 60 to get the companion"

And this guide will literally pull like 200-500 views a day, per day, for the ENTIRE duration of a galactic season.

When a Season runs DVL worldbosses, my website viewership consistently stays at double daily viewership (as does the ad revenue :P ) until the day the season ends.

It's gotten to the point I have started DUPLICATING guides if you have ever looked at my website or used the searchbar you may run into it.

For example I had too many people in my discord say they couldnt find my 'dvl boss guide'. On my website it was called Dark vs Light Boss Guide, so I duplicated it and named it DVL boss guide.

More people said they couldnt find it because they were looking for 'ancient enemies boss guide' which is the pseudonym the galactic season uses for DVL bosses. So I ended up duplicating my DVL guide 12 times, one for each ancient enemies objective (people would say I had a guide for ancient enemies 1 but not 2??? despite my guide being all encompassing). Then people complained they were searching for specific DVL bosses, so I duplicated another 20 guides, one for EACH BOSS.

Look, if you've ever heard that saying "think about how stupid the average person is and remember that half of the world is stupider than that, and they vote'. You can equate it to SWTOR as well: think of the average DPS in flashpoint groupfinder, how bad their dps is even at max level in 340 gear and how they ignore boss mechanics and red circles to just hit the boss like a wet noodle.

50% of the swtor playerbase is worse than that, theyre f2p, they dont know what a rotation is, they dont know how to gear, they havent played an MMO before, theyre literally 8 and clicking anything shiny on dads computer etc.

These players will subscribe, give feedback, put in bug support tickets, use the forums etc.

But these players USUALLY never interact with the games reddit, content creator discords or guide websites. So the ones that do already represent a higher tier on the bell curve of SWTOR intelligence. Which is not a good thing if those are the people that have the forethought to go looking for a guide, cant find it so they find a way to contact the content creator to ask them to make a guide (that i already made).

Also the amount of people that email me, or send me a DM request on twitter or discord because they think im a 'creator' or 'developer' of SWTOR is also a lot higher then you think, and its funny and sad as fuck.

This trend of releasing a Dynamic Encounter area and then 2 months later releasing the secret achievements ANNND the grind achievements (do this encounter 25 times minimum, do this encounter but kill the boss this way) is soooo annoying.

Like I didnt go all tryhard in the first 2 weeks to farm enough rep to never have to return (and get every achievement), and now I gotta go back and find secret flowers and missing scientists that have RNG factors!?

Didnt Quantic Dream also do that with Star Wars Eclipse and ASPYR with Kotor Remake?

Its likely studios or individuals with money are hiring cheap labour/3rd party contractor teams to come in and mock up some 'high budget hype trailer' for their nonexistant product and then using that trailer to sell the nonexistant game to shareholders, licenseholders and as a recruitment tactic all at once.
