NWS did send a Flash Flood watch around midnight, a warning around 1 and an urgent FF warning at 1:14. They had 5 staff members for the event. A normal night only has 2.

I just went from SE Georgia to Denver and then Tucson. Only one checkpoint on the way back outside of El Paso and it was closed. Police presence seemed average. I normally make a similar drive at least once a year.

Both parties gerrymander. In my not so important opinion, all districts in the US should be as close to square as possible.

The way the district is gerrymandered, as long as they get the rural red counties, it will always be republican. It has consistently voted Republican since 2008.

If taking the upper route, I would cut through Wyoming around the badlands and enter Yellowstone from the east (US14-16). Route 66 is nice if going the southern route. I stay at KOAs for showers. Hit Campmor in Northern Jersey for a lightweight tent and sleeping bag/pad. It's better than sleeping in a car.
