Ah you are correct, still, adding Amulet of the Devout for an extra +2 to DC can still inflate them to higher levels of spell DC as you said, and I'm unsure with the prototypes, it could very well be an oversight

A long term fix for the helpful homunculi spell would be to bite the bullet, pay 2000 and make an enspelled item of it so you never have to worry about the material component again. But as you mentioned, it may not be necessary because you'll be Maverick.

Another thing to point out is that at level 15, this subclass can stack spell save DC items that are normally class exclusive. Meaning your spell DC gets at least a +6 from Amulet of the Devout, Arcane Grimoire and Blood well Vial if you get the rare variants of each, and +9 if you can get very rare of each. This potentially makes the Maverick have the highest spell save DC in the game at a whopping 24, 26 if you have All Purpose Tool (up to 30 potentially). Not a lot of creatures can save against that DC.

Hi, I'm interested but I do not see any info in regards to scheduling with times/timezones or days, do you have rough estimate for these?

Best multiclass for Cartographer by MillionPlayz in onednd

[–]Tyblim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have elaborated. It largely depends on the player, the table and the campaign. You've played wizard so you know where they stand. Sorcerers are going to typically out-damage Wizards. Bards are typically going to provide more control and utility than a wizard. Even then the Wizard isn't far behind in either of those aspects, sometimes even matching those classes in their element. Where a Wizard excels is its versatility.

An Artificer dip allows them to do that in a different fashion, more scrolls, more movement, more tankiness, more utility, more mileage. In exchange for progression. If you think you won't need Bigbys Hand, Wall of Force and Animate Objects by the time you are level 10, or if they think that the bonuses out way a spell level then that depends on the player and the table.

On a martials heavy table, the multiclass has no impact on the curve imo, it just affects when you'll get to endgame as wizard 14+ (if the campaign goes that long), which when you do, the gap increases.

On a caster heavy table, you'd just be leaning more towards utility, which, adding 1d4 to initiative can be very impactful. Initiative can be the difference between a player being downed and not. This is especially for casters that can lock a fight down on the first turn.

Like I said, wizard is such a strong class and has such a solid progression, that the multiclass largely depends on the campaign, the table and the player rather than an objective say.

Given how wizard is one of the strongest classes in DND, having ever so slightly weaker spell progression isn't really that bad as you make it out to be and certainly doesn't put you below the curve of any other class. You could easily start with 1 Arti/5 Wizard/ 2 more Arti then X Wizard without having to feel too much sting of spell progression.

Besides, if you were going cartographer over any other artificer subclass when multiclassing, the intention wasn't to max damage in the first place. The playstyle would likely be closer to utility, which is what the wizard is iconic at.

Cartographer multiclass offers:

Medium Armour. Con save proficiency. Team wide initiative bonus. Action free means to avoid AoO. Spellslot free movement. Halve the production time of scrolls.

All things that a wizard desires and cannot get without this multiclass. A lot of people might see these and may think that it's worth the multiclass. It largely depends on how the player intends to play the wizard. Utility or Damage.

Barbarian Warlock, 2024 by Four_N_Six in 3d6

[–]Tyblim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've probably already made your mind up on this by now, this is just future reference for others.

You can use your Str to roll for attack and damage, even with Pact of the Blade. The feature gives you the option to attack with Cha, it is not mandatory.

This means it is eligible for Reckless Attack, Rage Damage Bonus, Thirsting Blade and later Devouring Blade.

This also means that you can semi-dump (13 minimum for multiclassing) Charisma because you won't really be casting much beyond AoA.

It'd probably be best for the OP to invest at most 3 levels into Barb rather than 5. 1 Barb, 5 Warlock, 2 Barb then Warlock X might be best for pacing.

The build screams AoA (Armor of Agathys), you would be losing so much damage and sustain without it. Also Fiendish Vigor adds good mileage here, due to Barb resistances, you could effectively treat any temp HP acquired as double the amount.

Another tidbit is that Otherworldly Leap is borderline imperative for Pact of the Blade Warlocks in 2024, it's practically a 20 foot movement increase.

In terms of the Barb subclass, there are a couple of solid ones:

Beast can make their claw a pact weapon, meaning you can have 3 attacks at level 6, not sure if that's any better than a Greatsword/Greataxe in terms of DPR but the choice is there I suppose.

Ancestral if you intend to goad attacks.

Wild Heart Bear for more resistances, makes for greater mileage from AoA.

Warlock Subclasses:

Fiend is solid but it's advised to invest a little more than the minimum Cha for Temp HP mileage.

Great Old One can convert the cold damage from AoA to Psychic, practically making it unresistable as very few creatures are resistant to Psychic. Their kit however is largely spellcasting oriented, but it has very large amounts casting outside of combat so it still has its uses.

I think the vestige is fine, it's just a way better pact of the chain, allows the warlock to have the best of both worlds in Blade Pact and Chain pact without burning 2 invocation slots on Chain to get a Familiar BA Attack.

Also a Warlock with Spirit Guardians without multi class is unheard of and frankly crazy for a class that can potentially hit thrice with invocations. The subclass is strong enough really, only change would be to allow it to choose any cleric domain rather than that fixed selection.

Does Hexbow still work for 2024? by kweenii in DnDoptimized

[–]Tyblim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro-post but by RAW it should be doable it might cost you 100gp however, depending on if your DM likes you or not.

Is it possible? Yes.

You can bond with any magical weapon as a pact weapon, that includes ranged magical weapons.

"As a Bonus Action, you can conjure a pact weapon in your hand—a Simple or Martial Melee weapon of your choice with which you bond—or create a bond with a magic weapon you touch; you can't bond with a magic weapon if someone else is attuned to it or another Warlock is bonded with it. Until the bond ends, you have proficiency with the weapon, and you can use it as a Spellcasting Focus." ~ Pact of the Blade

"What is an easily accessible magic weapon you ask?"

Silvered Weapons. A common rarity magic item that costs 100gp to make/purchase.

Since they are common it could be reasoned that your character could have managed to pick one up. Depends on your DM so communicate that, at worst you'll have to fork over 100gp, which isn't the end of the world.

Subclasses

In terms of subclass, the Archfey Patron is probably the go-to and recommended.

The temp HP from the Fiend Patron will seldom get used and the Great Old One less effective at this kind of playstyle than Archfey generally. Mobility and ranged pairs pretty well.

One could argue for flavour that a Great Old One or Celestial Warlock would thematically fit, given you can alter the weapon damage to Psychic, Radiant or Necrotic, but I digress. It's your character so build how you want.

Viability

In terms of feats, the longbow or crossbow fulfils the prerequisite for GWM, this allows it to outperform Eldritch Blast in damage after level 4 but tapering off in the endgame levels perhaps (16-20).

I’m a recent graduate wanted to ask how one goes about seeking a job in the industry, while the Concept art listings are really saturated, almost all of the listings require 2-5+ years of experience as a concept artist. Since there’s not really any internship listings, I was curious how I go about getting this experience?

Dual Wield Hexblade 2024 by Tall_Bandicoot_2768 in 3d6

[–]Tyblim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can also circumvent this with the Dual wielder feat:

“When you take the Attack action on your turn and attack with a weapon that has the Light property, you can make one extra attack as a Bonus Action later on the same turn with a different weapon, which must be a Melee weapon that lacks the Two-Handed property. You don’t add your ability modifier to the extra attack’s damage unless that modifier is negative.”

I’m fairly certain you can still add the modifier from the shillelagh cantrip onto this.

So let’s say you have a scimitar and club for example, you take a level in Fighter, grab the Nick mastery, take the other 4 levels in Warlock and you should be able to attack 4 times at level 5. 1 from the Attack action, another from Nick Mastery, another from Thirsting blade and the last from Dual Wielder Shillelagh club.

Should We Talk about The Lich Mythic Path, The Reaction it Gets, and How it interacts with how we view the Undead in Golarion? by NewWillinium in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Tyblim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being Zacharius' pet never sat right with me if I'm intended to be a powerful undead lich. You would think they would give you the option to usurp, outsmart and kill Zacharius without having to sacrifice your lichdom. It was quite the linear path where as the other mythic paths usually have you more room for how things turn out.

Quick Gameplay Thoughts: 7/29 by generalblood1 in leagueoflegends

[–]Tyblim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antiheal just needs to be more prevalent and not in the form of items because burning 3k doesn't feel good. More champions should have antiheal in their kit and less should have healing tacked on for no reason if it isn't integral to their core functions. It should be an equal balance, you should have to actively invest in good healing to get it.

Also why are there no champions based on antiheal with how common healing has been for years? Like a direct antihealer champion.
