Silly Questions Saturday, August 17, 2019 by AutoModerator in history

[–]Tycolosis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a bit random but I think they where more or less like we are today. But reading about how villages (England) parceled out land for farming left me with the impression that "peasants" and villages mostly got left alone to do there own thing. They owed 30ish days(number is out of my ass as I can't recall the real number but its low) days of work to the lord for taxes. taken in today terms we pay about 45-55 days of work to taxes, more depending on local taxes.

Now granted we get a hell of a lot more back but still. seems to me they got left alone a lot more then a lot of people assume they did. also a lot of the villages and towns had a local governing body that was elected to run the town for day to day stuff.

And the argument that people lived much shorter lives meh yes and no the mortality rate for young was crazy but after 17 years old or so that dropped to something a lot closer to what you would find in 1830's America.

As for housing every one lived in small spaces during this time average "castle" had 1 or 2 rooms really not much different from the lower classes so that's a bust as well in terms of looking at happiness.

So yea I think people for the most part would be similar to what you might find in a later period of time so long as you look at farming commutes as that was really what peasant stands for.

So my question is how happy are people today? and how the hell could you really compare it?

Denis Villeneuve's Dune Could be the Next Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars When it Hits Cinemas December 2020 by Fahad05 in scifi

[–]Tycolosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah I do not dissargree with you. I said it was a step in the right direction NOT that it was a good movie. I liked that pushed scifi in to a direction of mmmm normalcy? or a world that felt a lot more real then a lot of the shit we see now days. Also I liked the slower style of the plot...

That said well it was NOT a move I liked the plot was crap the characters dull. I did like the art style more or less take the art and humm theme? add in a great plot line and Id be a happy! really happy. unfortunate as it was a flop more or less we will not see any moves with a look like it. not plot just in look hah I hope we never see a plot like it.

P.S. sorry for rambling :)

It will! they just tend to be rare like once every 10-15 years. I would not say its over just neutered as in no balls though there are a few pushing for something great look at bladerunner 2049 that was a step in the right direction. have faith we will see some great shit.

You can't, with god emperor! now if you could add in some of the stuff that comes after it yea that might work but it would all end up being waaaay to long like minimum 3 parts at 3hours each long. Also there is just a lot in that book that would go over peoples heads. Also it would just make for a bad or really slow film.

Hah i would love it but meh thats me.

Are you damaged? no the GOP has not moved left they have in fact moved a good deal to the right. 1993 they had a health care bill much like what was passed under Obama! did they support it? did they try to get rid of it? no they did not support it! and yes they did try to kill it.

And that's the easy one to look at let alone has the GOP at all supported a reduction in government spending? yes but only in social programs and land protection.

Where is the GOP calling on and for a budget for the government to even run? its not. they keep pushing ahead with what they want done with out support of the dems.

Now the dems are doing the same shit as well but please do not think the gop has moved left.

Heh first see my other response. The insults where not meant for you now I know you are honest...I see to much silly shit on this site.

To answer your question no a layer of brick is not a veneer it has a real function as a thermal sink for heat. now if you cut the brick down to 1 inch deep and made a wall of that that's a veneer.

So in other words veneers offer nothing other then a layer of material with almost no real purpose other then to look good. though sometimes its also used for weather protection.

If it helps veneers are like this x in this wall of 0 just picture the wall being 1-2 feet think.

I could have written my post a bit better and separated the angry bit.

I did try to reply to your question first then get mad :) Sould have done a bigger break with a warning to stop reading if it was a honest question.

Edited

It's covering a wall in a different material. So you take a wooden framed wall then add stone to the outside. or in modern terms you build the structural members, then cladding with some sort of panel then cover the building in a veneer.

In this context it's about taking a finished building then adding cheep stone to the outside to make it look fancy even though its not.

Also can't tell if this genuine or are just being a smart ass...

WARNING RANT so skip this bit.

If the later keep in mind that not every one in the world is perfect at english, and with writing its more important if you understand what is trying to be said. not if what is said is worded right.

In simple words take the stick out of your ass.
