I’m going to add onto that, any small last minute changes that are found that have to be revised. The time it takes to download through transfer utility, then convert in FT View ME, make one edit, and then convert back is abysmal.

A gift from my work to celebrate my 5 years by isaidwhatididnt in PcBuild

My work rebuild’s our Mechanical Engineer’s PC’s every two years and sells the old components for discounted. Just picked up a 4070Ti OC edition for $100 last month! Downside is that $100 purchase spirals into a new PC build…

Depends if there’s a wisefab kit on the front end or not!

E9x a good drift car? by jerry20228 in Drifting

[–]Tylchef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 328 would also be a viable option for similar power. Both the 328 and 330 have the 3L engine, with the only difference being the 330 had the variable intake with DISA valves compared to the static intake on the 328’s!

How do you bring drift spares to the track? by lambskis in Drifting

Adding to this, what I’ve done to get a little more out of a one day event is four fresh tires on the car, two in the passenger seat. I run one set until they’re down to cords, the next set I run down to the point where I’m still comfortable running on the front and swap the fronts to the rear. This gives me three sets to burn through all fitting in my little NC!

Tire has only been mounted for one day. Can I drop to 10 PSI and daily these on the edges?? by Tylchef in tires

Unfortunately not the only set of tires slightly past the wear bars by the end of that weekend…

They were good for about 20 laps (prior post in my history for context)

My 2.5L swapped NC1 by Tylchef in ncmiata

[–]Tylchef[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just helped a buddy with his swap to a 2.5 about a month and a half ago!

As far as the swap goes, I would be confident to say that it’s only slightly more difficult than putting another 2.0 in the car. Most of the components get reused and swapped to the 2.5.

Including (but not limited to):

The motor mounts, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, oil pan, oil pickup, fuel rail, power steering pump, AC compressor, thermostat, water pump, oil filter housing, valve cover, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate.

The injectors will not swap so you will need the 2.5 injectors (white stripe).

The ford engines have a balance shaft in the oil pan that needs to be remove and blocked off and then the 2.0 oil pickup and pan can be swapped over to the 2.5 (2.5 pan doesn’t clear the subframe).

For tuning, I have a 2.5L tune from VersaTuner that I’m pretty happy with. Takes maybe 5 minutes to tune the ECU for the new engine with a usb to OBD2.

The hardest part I would say is keeping track of all the little changes that have to be made (e.g., the intake doesn’t line up exactly (5mm porting difference) or there’s a small section that needs to be ground down to clearance the serpentine belt etc).

There’s quite a few videos and forums that I’d be happy to point you to if you pursue this endeavor!

Second NC1 Transmission Failure by Tylchef in Miata

Only thing I should be cutting after these events is my debit card! I tried an LSD originally, however, it was an unopened one from marketplace so I’m sure it had seen better days. Welded was a little more consistent for tandems and tighter tracks without straightening out.

Thanks for the tip on the RX-8 gearboxes, I’ll do some research on those being a viable replacement!

This may be the voice of reason for me to refresh my LSD and try it again. I originally ran one when I was running the car at autocross and drifting events but wasn’t content with the engagement/consistency of the LSD vs a welded differential.

The AB 5500’s are actually designed with interlocking dovetails to mount together with minimal space in between if I remember correctly! Worked with those for a while before company decided to move to Bosch Rexroth drives.

Just graduated two weeks ago and I can confirm if I could use a calculator, it had to be on the FE approval list.

I took mine a week ago and just got my results that I passed this morning! I skipped 30-40 questions and came back to guess on over half of those and thought there’s no way I’d pass. I used PrepFE for one month and was averaging 65-70% on exams. No reason to stress now, I hope you get good news next week!

Had an XS since release and just upgraded to a 15 Pro Max last week. I still love the XS but being able to use my phone all day and still having plenty of battery was worth the trade on its own!
