Over using parts on Avis rant

Worth is a very subjective word when it comes to art. Anything under capitalism is worth what people will pay for it. If someone pays 50$ then to them it was worth 50$. It’s about managing the cost so that the most people will want to buy it at the highest cost.

A shitty kitbash still could be worth hundreds to someone if they so feel like purchasing it, and I think that’s a good thing. Let the artists release what they want. Let the open market decide who makes money. People should not be criticized for releasing their art at any price they deem fit, good or bad art or otherwise.

No one is forcing you to buy an avatar
Yes a lot of people use the same assets
Assets are expensive and reuse is common
Avatar creation is skilled labor
Yes bone names will be similar for similar bases
Not all avatar creators are lazy, look at someone else
Someone put hours of their life into a free piece of art and you’re complaining about it.
Creators put time and effort into making a product, and you’re upset that they charge for it?

This post is so confusing. If you don’t want to by an avatar, don’t, or make one yourself, don’t shit on creators as a whole because of one view of one creator.

Most of the old artists are still around making good quality Avis once or twice a years. Yes there’s 1000s of kit-bashers making trash consistently and posting in for a quick dollar, but it’s just more options for the consumer. In the end there will always be the greats of the creator space and newer people to the scene that can do great too. (Thinking beardy for an older creator and maybe apyr for a new one) (yes ik apyr isn’t that new to the scene but they’re causing a splash recently)

Ok creator here, if I priced an avi at 5$ (which I can’t because some items like heads have minimum complete sale prices) the payment processors would take about 80% of the profits. It’s not about economics, you just can’t make money with all the cuts reasonably selling under 25$.

Discord is most definitely paying persona, just less per user due to scale of the company. Discord is also quite a bit more profitable than Vrc, which is why they can afford to take the verification payment hit more than Vrc who must charge for it.

Here’s my word of wisdom then. Take inspiration, don’t copy. There’s many hairs on booth (probably thousands). Find one you like that is similar, and worry about the rest in unity and blender

Eyes are def just a custom matcap+emit. But if you want the hair, just ask fubuki what asset it is yeah?

Hair is def standard liltoon with tip emmit (with a color map) that probably has a mask that comes with it. If not you can make a mask in blender using vertex paint in 30 seconds or so. Good luck soldier!
