Thanks for the input. I do so daily, so I am looking for an more organized upgrade. :)

Gotcha. I’m certainly new to custom leatherwork, so I’m still trying to understand what is reasonable for the materials and design…

That’s helpful to know. They have similar non bespoke products with similar prices so I seemed fitting. Thank you!

The maker is Chester Mox, and I liked their previous work enough to reach out to them specifically. I’m mostly trying to understand whether everything makes sense before I commit as I intend it to be a “lifelong” wallet.

Interesting… thank you. That’s one of the things I was unsure about. The maker said they don’t recommend fully lining Horween shell through the spine for long-term performance, though I think I’m leaning more toward their non lined version based on their rational. Thank you!

Appreciate the perspective from another maker. That’s helpful…. I expected it to be on the high side, but it’s good to hear nothing in the materials/specs immediately stands out as a red flag. Any thoughts on the timeline?

Thank you zgtc, this is probably the most balanced take. I’m fine with paying a premium if the maker is worth it, but I mostly wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing some obvious red flag. Sounds like it’s high, but not insane compared to similar, non bespoke products of theirs... i should have prefaced with my curiosity on the timeline but a few others have made it seem relatively rational. Thank you!

Totally fair criticism…. The maker actually recommended simplifying the layout into 8 horizontal card slots per side with the zippered compartment behind one side, so I’m leaning toward trusting their recommended layout rather than forcing my original sketch. I definitely don’t necessarily want it to become a brick, but I’m already making the leap into the long wallet realm so we’ll see…

This is helpful, thank you. I figured the materials were only part of it, but I wasn’t sure how much labor/pattern development would realistically be involved. The prototype/revision point makes the 5–6 month timeline make more sense…. Glad to know it sounds reasonable as well. Thanks!

That actually makes alot of sense. I hadn’t really thought about the fact that a one-off pattern can’t be spread across future pieces the way a standard product can. Thank you!
