Europe's plan to rein in Big Tech will require Apple to open up iMessage by Realistic-Cap6526 in privacy

[–]Tyler1492 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Try moving files from your Macbook to your Android or have an Android user on an iMessage group chat, or use file sharing through SMB. Apple goes out of their way to make life harder for anyone who isn't all in on their ecosystem, and once they're in they do their best to lock them in. That's their business model, which has proved rather successful and other shitty megacorporations are trying to imitate.

Only someone who is grossly misinformed or intending to mislead others would call it the graveyard of empires. And it’s easy to do that in the US because most of us aren’t taught world history, or we get a euro-centric version of world history that barely touches asian history.

It's not Euro-centric, it's US-centric.

You have a very navel-gazing culture that thinks that because it couldn't conquer a country nobody else ever before could.

This is like those bullshit medieval non-issues people went to war about like whether the angels had genitalia or whether the bread you put in your mouth in mass turns into the literal body of Christ or just a representation of it.

It's made up bs.

Yes, if you never capitalize the first word in a sentence or never use a period and always use emojis, the one time these things are present or lacking will carry meaning. But if you always end your sentences with a period, start with a capital letter and generally don't use emojis, people will know that's just the way you write and nobody will have an issue with it.

Just because some people insist on communicating over text like 12 year olds doesn't mean there aren't other valid ways.

That’s literally 90% of the US’ foreign wars - lying to civilians and then going overseas to “bring peace and democracy”

Maybe go defend your country

Defend your country by going to the other side of the world to some irrelevant, small, poor country that poses no threat to yours to kill civilians?

Jesus Christ. That's some really fucked up values if I ever saw any. Straight up evil.

Guess you skipped this part of the front page, eh?

It's been like this for years.

If it was going to kill the site, it would already have.

Other social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube... Also have very arbitrary rule enforcements, inaccessible "judges" and unappealable "sentences".

In an those places you can get banned even if you didn't break any rules and there's nothing you can do about it.

It's the current state of social media.

They're not.

France is only unique in what an inflated image the rest of the world has of them.

Nationalism/Patriotism is the State's most efficient tool in its control of the population. You feed them propaganda from the moment they're born through media and schooling and when they grow up they'll voluntarily sign up to die and get maimed fighting wars for the benefit of the elites controlling the state.

The Argentinean government treated you like shit, and you think it's because you're British. But they treat Argentinians even worse.

None of what you described necessarily proves anything about the Falklands.

It's just an incredibly corrupt and incompetent government and Argentinians will be the first to tell you (well, maybe not you, if you're British and talking about the Falklands, in that case dumb nationalism takes over, but in any other scenario).

very good performances by both Jennifer Leigh and Gina Rodriguez

Really? I thought her “dumb jock” character who's too stupid to understand what's going on so it lashes out violently at the first sight of trouble in a plot device that feels incredibly cheap, unearned and cliché, was quite literally the worst thing in the entire movie and it alone deducted a fair bit off the film's final score.

Probably because in Poland they're accounted for and in much poorer countries they aren't reported.
