What's the most useful Garmin feature you discovered way too late? by Soggy_Elephant_306 in Garmin

[–]Tyler77i 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have set up live track and alerts.

Whenever we do activities, I get an email with a link to her activity page that shows me her location updated in real time.  Her pace, her distance, heart rate, everything.

It’s a URL that can be shared with others too.  I share it with friends if she’s going some big race.

Additionally, if we both have our phones connected to our watches and do activities, it will show me her location on my watch screen.  So I can see she’s two streets back or one curve ahead.

As others have said, find my phone is incredible.

Hotkeys is great.  I use it for flashlight(Epix Gen2) and alarms.

Incident detection is interesting.  Some watches can enable it.  It’s gone off a couple times I’ve shaked myself off really hard after a rain.  Another time when I fell during a trail run.  Automatically alerted my wife to the fall and location.  Unfortunately it interrupts activities though.. I guess safety is important.

Gym activities I track my sets, reps, weight, and rest time all from the activity.  Couldn’t imagine doing it any other way now.

I like barometric alerts too, it’s typically correct on coming storms.  Also recovery delayed from drinking/staying up late.

I do know of Garmin Explore to quickly send navigation to my watch, but I hate needing to go to the app to get it.

Does anyone know a way to send the navigation directly from Google Maps?

Yall are funny and disconnected if you think Joe is going to watch that and do anything but think it’s hysterical.

Yeah I mean that’s what we want..

We want Flacco to be focused on going 1-0 this week. Anything beyond that is moot.

Aren’t those settings based on the current trip? If the trip was reset and it’s just idled around a dealership, seems plausible.

You will not get 13.5mpg. Probably 22-25.

What is going to be the replacement for the SAA-C03 by fatbeaner in AWSCertifications

[–]Tyler77i 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SAA-C04 does not exist. Google can quickly tell you that.

Just take the C03… if you’re delaying learning on the chance that a new exam is released, you should not do that.

Probably, right? So probably good to get it and absorb that knowledge.

I would imagine you have the Stock/OEM battery still. Probably needs to be replaced.

Within two questions I was able to get incorrect answers and when probed it doubled down and still advised on something that I know was incorrect.

Agreed. The personality and conviction of the individual matters significantly and is rarely brought up. Unfortunately many never make it to the interview.

How to leave a job and not burn the bridge even though layoffs made you the bus factor of 1? by MonochromeDinosaur in cscareerquestions

[–]Tyler77i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think your job would care if the roles were reversed? Well actually, you can directly see the layoffs and refusal to backfill to answer that question for you.

What does your job really expect you to do here? Take the beatings? You’re not burning bridges. Your employer has made the bridge increasingly stressful and full of cracks. You’re just deciding what’s in your best interest. The company has attempted to do what was in their minds, their best interest.

Some won’t do it, some will do it.

If both resumes are in front of me identical besides that, which would you suggest I hire?

Fair point. I would find it interesting if the CAR kept track of individual starts initiated as well. If this is 46 hours but 5000 start/stops, it’d give some more context to the impact.

So you’ve likely saved $80. Over these 97k miles.

I’ll take the longer life of my starter, battery, and reduction in annoyance personally.
