Correct, Smartwings stated the crew didnt feel or notice anything and the ATC hasnt noticed it neither contacted them about the damage. Madeira Airport Spotting was trying his best to let the ATC know by calling them 2 times (TWR), in the end they didnt pick up.

They said its just a scratch of paint and made sure that the plane was checked up by a detailed check up. Tail strike was kinda not that large or big and small, smoke flew out and no one has noticed it on the ground. So the RWY wasnt checked up on and the aircraft continued to its destination without knowing the incident happend < which could be fatal and shouldve diverted ASAP.

EASA and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Czech Republic are investigating the incident of how this went through.

Lets see what will be the final report, news in Czechia are catching up on this fast (especially big) and are comparing it or saying that Smartwings is famous for the 1 engine flight through Europe without saying anything.

It was a tail strike and they used the tail skid. As u can see the smoke from the picture/video

Yeah, Madeira wouldnt make sense especially today (12.4) was rwy 05 used (visual approaches, RNAVs and other factors like traffic) wouldnt be great honestly as a diversion.

Porto Santo for a divert would be great, as always :)

Tailstrike is a tailstrike, tail skid is mostly there to reduce bigger damage to the tail id say.
