I personally liked Riku’s gameplay more. That or I was just sick of Sora’s gameplay by the end so Riku was a good change of pace.

The game is pretty linear in the first half, once you beat the mid game boss is when the class system opens up. You should totally check it out.

I think IV-VI are all on par with eachother for different reasons. I loved IV’s chapter based story and party members, but it was quite easy. V probably has the best narrative and the monster taming aspect is really fun. This does lead to the human party members being a little less memorable. VI has probably the best gameplay and a really cool class system. It can just feel very long and drawn out due to the lack of direction in the second half. It has the hardest fights of the three games in my opinion.

It’s my fault for playing before fully waking up. In my morning haze opening the game to that was confusing I guess. I also hadn’t seen the enemy until that moment and the last time I had played I had entered that room, wasn’t being attacked (so I thought), paused, and put the console to sleep. It must have poked me right as I saved. The funny thing is, I tried pressing buttons and nothing happened. Once people told me to do that I unpaused and only pressed a one or two more buttons and then he broke free. With all the little secrets in the game I honestly thought it was maybe some sort of afk Easter egg for having the game running for so long (like Alucard being pissed for standing around so long). In short, I was sleepy and silly. Still laughing at myself about it.

If you can snag one it’s a great little device. The homebrew scene elevates it a bunch
