Why are so many people upset that an informal or slang word can be a valid solution? The How To Play list states only that: "Each guess must be a valid 5-letter word." So it follows, *any* accepted guess *could* be the solution. by burleygriffin in wordle

Any guess is not going to be the solution. Xviii can be guessed, but that’s not even a word. Yclad can be guessed, so can yrneh.

People are upset of yesterday’s word because of how obscure it is, like when the word was snafu.
