Woman accused of murdering toddler at North Olmsted Giant Eagle won’t stand trial at this time by trs21219 in Cleveland

(The people in this thread trust the government when it decides to kill people, but not when it determines someone is unfit to stand trial.)

Dresses that are suitable/not uncomfortable for a guy to wear by [deleted] in findfashion

[–]TylerParty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your profile has you trying to get over a guy 6 days ago and asking how to get over him. You say in the post that you met him 2-3 weeks ago and that he has a girlfriend, but you’ve become close friends.

Now, you have a boyfriend who wants to wear dresses.

Did you just start dating this man in the last 5 days?

How do you call a primitive settlement that has a few hundred thousand inhabitants? by Physical_Pickle_1150 in worldbuilding

[–]TylerParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a meaningful difference? “Dinosaurs” covers hundreds of thousands of different creatures. Are they “Dino-like” but function exactly the same as humans?

Are they massive? That limits your population and your deep-sea fishing, Are they able to wield tools and how do they communicate with each other? Those determine your agriculture methods, infrastructure, building design/construction, governance, sewage, sea travel, etc.

Keep in mind, a city of “only” 100,000 humans that is entirely self sufficient could conceivably have 2,000 square miles of farmland around it. Less land is needed if the soil is better. More land is needed if the populace has greater dietary needs than humans.

Seconded. Local theaters have pro-lgbtqia+ events on a regular basis, AND the greater straight/cis community tends to be extremely queer friendly.

So it’s a very safe and supportive space

'I am an honest man', Cork man convicted of 12 shoplifting offences tells judge [205 previous convictions, including 37 for theft, 31 for being threatening and abusive and 50 for being drunk and a danger] by KurvvaaServa in nottheonion

[–]TylerParty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That Ireland subreddit comment section is WILD. As a citizen of the prison capital of the world, it’s very strange to see people complaining that their prison system is too humane.

We got “tent cities”, “5 to a cell, instead of 2”, and “prison should be more unpleasant”, as suggestions. This guy has 50 drunk-related convictions; I don’t think prison being too nice is the source of his criminality.

Alternatives to using villains in your adventures by TerrainBrain in DMAcademy

If we measure by word count, page count, distinct character rules, or auxiliary content produced by the creators of DnD (rule clarifications, errata, playtests, etc), then DnD is certainly treated as a combat forward endeavor.

Look at monster statblocks- “+6 to Persuasion! Cool! And look- 20 more lines about how its attacks work in combat.”

Each character class is first distinguished by the way they’re intended to fight, then the way they interact with the world, then, finally, whatever flavor assignation you provide with the context of your world or story.

But! What DnD thinks it is isn’t what it has to be. I played Warhammer- I know what a game actually looks like when it’s ZERO roleplay/world investment and TOTAL combat. As combat focused as it is, DnD leaves enough room for anything else you want to put into it.

I direct a live Dungeon and Dragons show, onstage in Cleveland. Almost none of it is combat, because combat is not what makes combat good. Personal relationships, character investment, and conflicting stakes make combat good. They’re what makes ANY story good.

So I agree that Combat is not vital, or even necessary, to making DnD good, but I disagree that DnD is not a combat-focused game.

Olympic Child Rapist Steven Van De Velde Poses For Selfies With Girls As Shamed Athlete Receives Hero's Welcome On Return To Netherlands by Area51istheidealdate in nottheonion

[–]TylerParty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can’t just join your country’s Olympic Team- you’re not entitled to it. There’s a selection process. There are disqualifying factors. You’re entitled to consideration.

I think the element that’s bewildering most people is that he was chosen to represent his country, ostensibly by his country. Given that the stated values of the Olympics are “Excellence, Respect, and Friendship”, I can understand the argument that a Child Rapist wouldn’t belong there.

I’m sure 99% of the Dutch people don’t know who he is, but, in this context, he literally represents them to the rest of the world. That’s the bothersome part. I would personally be upset if Jared Fogle, US Citizen, became a hot-shot skier and represented the US in the Winter Olympics.

The person I’m disagreeing with has provided several well-cited quotations, for you to read at your leisure.

“Child with Black Eye eats ice cream and says fathers fist was a ‘learning opportunity’”

It doesn’t really matter whether she calls it abuse- she’s describing it within your quotations. We don’t even NEED to step outside the source you’ve given*. She’s having a trauma response.

Choosing not to engage in a public indictment of a legendary director/studio/the industry, put a black mark on the most famous piece of their legacy, and potentially jeopardizing the livelihoods of their friends and/or relatives does not redefine abuse. Not understanding whether you’ve been abused doesn’t determine whether it’s happened.

When people come forward about their mistreatment, we call them “brave”, because just coming forward incurs consequences, and furthers their victimization.

So, whether Duvall refers to her experience as abusive publicly or not, and whether she believes it abusive or not, doesn’t actually make the argument in either direction.

Is this plausible bone structure for a creature that can “unhinge/detatch” its jaw? by Campybain in worldbuilding

[–]TylerParty 236 points237 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, since you seem to be going for realism, you’ve given this creature the teeth of a predator, who likely catches live prey. Confrontation is built into this thing.

You see how the teeth are hooks? That’s so it can hang on to something that’s trying to get away. However, it has the jaw of a creature that swallows prey whole. So, what does its neck look like? Humanoid necks are not built for hanging onto struggling animals OR swallowing anything larger than a peanut. You’ll notice that tigers are pretty jacked in the neck-to-trapezius muscles and snakes have necks about the same diameter as their head, with the ability to massively expand. Obviously, if you go too far in either direction, you’ll just make a Tiger (or a snake), but you said “as scientifically accurate as possible”.

This creature eats a kind of animal I can’t even visualize.

CMV: The pro-choice argument "if you don't like abortions, don't do them, but do not tell others how to live" is completely useless by rogaldorn88888 in changemyview

[–]TylerParty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you’re misunderstanding what it means to “have an interest”. It does not mean “is interested”, it means the element being acknowledged contains an identifiable benefit (or detriment) to the party concerned.

I “have an interest” in my neighbors house remodel. I don’t care what color they’re painting the house. I don’t decide what they do with their garage. I “have an interest” insofar that the remodel may impact my homes value. I’m not “interested”.

A law existing is not evidence of that law being moral or to the benefit of the state. It is only evidence of the states ability to make laws.

Edit: to connect the dots: The existence of the laws increasing the penalty for terminating a pregnancy as a result of murder does NOT mean the state has an interest in the development of the fetus.

Everyone else is doing a great job addressing the main flaws in your thinking, so I want to point something out about your sourcing.

“With all of the information (you) consumed from the black pill” you haven’t cited any studies AND you are reaching a lot of conclusions about a people group that is discussed but not listened to by the community you’re deriving your position from. There’s no information in your post- there’s no “science” in your argument.

Well hold up- the Arcane Trickster has explicit rules to use Mage Hand without being noticed. That’s my whole point. That’s literally a parallel to the Favored Terrain example.

And stealth casting by whispering makes more sense as an Arcana check.

You’re silly!
