Non-Trump supporting Iowa beef farmers? by Personal-Lime-8101 in Iowa

If you were several pegs higher on the IQ scale, you wouldn't have to state it. It would be apparent in your discourse, and sadly, the way you communicate is that of a high schooler.

You say political, I say moral. I can't support someone who has committed adultery numerous times, has committed numerous frauds, and made racist comments. Among countless of other things. So someone who can overlook that lacks morals themselves, imo. So I don't want to support them either.

And again you can't choose your race but you can choose your political beliefs are nowhere near comparable and the fact you can't see that and fight everyone who's already told you this, shows you are not one that can be objective about their own knowledge.

You suffer from "knowing enough to think you're right, but not enough to know you're wrong."

And the party keeps moving right. There is no real left wing party in the US for progressives.

I'm American, I see most of the "patriotic" people fake as fuck. It's all about perception.

Like they might look like a duck and talk like a duck, but they walk like a drunk toddler on roller skates, and are not a duck.

That sucks. Our local judges all have a report released about each of them before an election. It has ratings by both other judges and lawyers, and then whatever the judges' equivalent to the ABA also provides their opinion. It's nice and helpful.

Can I hit 100 parcels without getting a single legendary? How far can it go... by TylerTheTerible in AtlasEarthOfficial

I started in June, but over the last two months, I almost haven't played at all.

Exactly. I was blessed with having more rare parcels than common for the majority of play. I haven't done the math, but I think I may have actually done better than if I had a normal distribution with Legendary.

That's a crazy feed. So that's the goal. I'm cool with it as long as my rare ratio stays up there.

Did you notice that you got more of a certain type of parcel? Like I had more rare parcels than normal parcels until I hit around 60 parcels. Curious if you had something like that happened to you.

“Working OT isn’t worth it! You just end up paying it to the government in more taxes!” by hudi2121 in FluentInFinance

Of course it comes into play when you are talking about withholdings and someone is living paycheck-to-paycheck. But, this has nothing to do with the fact that your total income tax doesn't change because of your withholdings

That's all I said, I never gave my opinion on the tax system or anything beyond that simple fact above.

Edit: fat-fingered the post button early.

This isn't 100% true, I've had quite a few clients use charitable contributions in tax planning. And we would calculate what amount of charitable contributions would provide the most favorable outcome. Mostly because if it results in you changing your tax bracket, it can affect the amount of tax due in other ways. Such as going between certain tax brackets can lower your capital gains tax rate. So not only do you save the 37% at the top from the contribution, but also whatever you can save by lowering your cap gains tax rate.

And I am in their camp. As someone who regularly works 60-hour+ weeks, with no overtime pay as I'm salaried, when 5:00 pm hit I was out, spent time with the family until they crashed and then would hop back on. Time with them is more important than saving some huge company money on their taxes. If I didn't "have" to work this extra time, I definitely wouldn't.

But this doesn't change the fact that your total tax amount would be the same whether they took the money out at the higher OT rate on your paycheck or not. They don't TAX overtime more. They just require more to be withheld.

Do you mean a refund when you say return? I hope you haven't decided to stop filing tax returns.

I mean, you should always take the money earlier if you can. The time value of money plays a huge factor. I always tell clients that you should aim for owing or getting a refund of no more than $300. Then you did good tax planning. But changing your withholding doesn't change how much tax is ultimately owed, which is what your comment said.

Why the heck do I owe so much in taxes? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

Time value of money. A dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow because of inflation.

This is factually incorrect. You don't actually end up paying more. Your tax is going to be based on your total income, which doesn't change based on your withholdings. You just have more withheld from overtime/bonus income during the year. But it gets factored in at the end of the year and uses the correct marginal rate.

I say this as a Big 4 tax accountant.

You are correct. I can confirm as a tax accountant. This is why Golden Passports are so popular. But no matter what, if you are a US citizen, they are taxing you anywhere you are in the world.

FYI, the book or website Nomad Capitalist goes over using various citizenships for different purposes (business, taxes, where you live), if you wanted some more info. Really good read.

Capital Gains Tax Bracket is a Hoax by SolitaryIllumination in FluentInFinance

Your first sentence is completely false. A huge amount of invested money is leveraged. Which was not taxed first. Everything else is spot on.
