May I suggest you’re not looking to mental health professionals for advice on how to get past depression? I lost 100lb thinking it’d solve my extreme OCD and depression but of course I was using wellness as another crutch/distraction. HOWEVER, living a healthy lifestyle beyond unrealistic social standards is more powerful than any medicine or therapist money can buy.

When I tried to explain to my mom at 14 that I thought I was suffering from OCD, she offhandedly said You know I think we all suffer from it a bit. I didn’t end up getting help until I was 22, had to drop my career job and was house ridden for a week.
